We have enjoyed two stays at this hotel and we have received room upgrades on both occasions. The staff are always friendly and helpful. There is convenient parking on site and the pool has a lovely view of the river. The hotel is in a great location - walking distance to many bars and restaurants and the stadium.

Absolutely disgusting ordered extra bed for friend but all to lazy to work out was told sorry and no didn’t order even though had evidence than said ordered a cot but didn’t get that either. Room lounge was filthy and actually had 4 dead cockroaches under the lounge that folded out without a mattress. Asked for sheets didn’t get overall was awfully disappointed and large round man that did look at computer needed deodorant and to learn how to iron a shirt especially when being paid Sunday wages.

Was not enough glasses and outdoor chairs for our group but that was rectified positively and efficiently. If a gym is important to you, might be worth asking if all equipment is in top order. We found the running machine a bit clunky.

Hard to get 5 stars from me but this place does. Very spacious 2 bed 2 bath apartment that is well appointed. Secure car park.|Nice balcony sitting out for breakfast with a view across the river.|Only downside is a bit of traffic noise from the local idiots with Harley bikes and no exhaust.

Very nice hotel. Good location. Helpful staff. Bars and restaurants all around. Enjoyable end to our 6 weeks in Australia. I'll let the pics say the rest.

I've travelled through dozens of countries, and never had a poor experience like at Oaks Townsville. When we arrived, the room was infested with thousands of ants. As we arrived after hours, we kept our suitcases closed to prevent them from getting into our clothes. We spoke with the front desk the next morning, and pest control eliminated most of the ants. We found unwashed cookware in the cupboards, and a pot half filled with congealed cooking grease! There was mold in the cupboards, and the cutting board. When we spoke with the manager, we received a half-hearted apology. He said "well, these things happen". We said that obviously his cleaning staff are not doing their job. I am usually fairly easy going about things, but I will never return to this establishment if this manager is still in charge. I think that his superiors need to fix things immediately!

The room they put us in had a burnt smell like someone had burned lamb chops. I went to the front desk desk and was basically told just put up with it. After several visits to the front desk the next day they finally moved us. Nobody even bothered to go up and see what the problem was they just said we were too sensitive. I asked to speak to somebody about some compensation. They couldn’t help me. I had to see the supervisor. Supervisor was never there when she was finally there and then had to wait to see what the manager said. End result was we got a 50% discount? |When we finally moved into a new room, the air-conditioning started leaking. |We won’t go back.
