Oaks Sunshine Coast Oasis Resort - Caloundra, Queensland

Had a lovely time staying at Oaks with my family, on what was my first trip to Caloundra.
In terms of the positives, there were many! The location is superb, with close proximity to shops and essential services. The resort feels like a tropical paradise, with great scenery, pool and water park. Buffet breakfast was also included, which was a great addition. The staff in both reception and the restaurant/bar were friendly and helpful.

However, I do have some constructive feedback I'd like to pass on, mainly regarding our room, Villa 26. Whilst the room was decent overall (the beds were very comfortable), there were a few issues I'd like to pass on to the maintenance team. The touch panel for the kitchen lights near the hotplates were faulty, with the plastic cover sticking out. The lock on the bedroom door (with the 2 single beds) was broken, and the front entrance door was hard to open and shut, because it got quite stuck. A fresh coat of paint would be good too, as there were some marks across the walls in the room.

Overall, however, this was a great place to stay at, with many great things going for it! With a fresh coat of paint to the rooms and fixing of the aforementioned issues, Oasis is hard to beat.

Our room wasn't serviced whilst there, which I found odd for the price. Rooms are pretty basic but the bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

Good location and late check out is automatic on a Sunday

We booked a 2 bedroom Apartment for a family getaway. Once we unpacked the kids and all of our belongings we notice the air conditioner is making a high pitched screeching noise to the point where it cannot be used and once opened was full of mould and dust. The maintenance man advised no one could fix this until Monday (it was Saturday). There were no other 2 bedroom apartments for us to move to and no offer of a portable air conditioner or even a fan.

The receptionist advised that we were not able to speak to the manager like requested as it was her birthday and she was unavailable to speak with us. The receptionist also had no delegation to make any decisions or provide any compensation. Had this not have been the case I wouldn't have had a need to speak to the manager.
Eventually a solution was provided to us and we were compensated and provided a dining credit to use during our stay.

The air-conditioniner's in the new interconnecting room/s provided were also full of mould and the unit in room 214 in particular barley cools, it just leaves the room extremely humid. Not ideal with young kids in summer but we knew there was nothing further that could be done so what was the point in bringing this up. These units look extremely old and are definitely not well maintained and regularly cleaned for how much they are used.

During buffet breakfast my husband took my son to the toilet in the restaurant which he later described as absolutely disgusting and mentioned that he thinks they had been cleaned recently. This was at 730 in the morning mind you.

Sunday lunch time we go to order some takeaway lunch to charge back to the room to be told that the system was down and we could not charge back to the room at this time meaning we were unable to utilise the dining credit compensation provided to us.

Overall I will not be recommending this place to anyone nor would I ever stay here again.

You'll have a great time here unless you come across some of the arrogant staff members. Our room was spotlessly clean & ready when we arrived & we were greeted by a lovely young lady on reception. We had Buffet Breakfast which was really good - lots of variety & the staff were delightful at breakfast. There is a Pool Bar (seemed an effort for the guy serving) .. Overall it's a fun place for a young family & there is a wonderful artist who shares their work throughout the grounds (kids loved spotting the artists works) We've stayed here many times & kids have always loved the water slides, pool and putt putt golf.

Firstly, our room was not clean upon arrival. We found dirty band-aids and band-aid rubbish on the bedroom floor, which was unhygienic and very disappointing. Additionally, every time we flushed the toilet, it caused a loud plumbing noise that lasted for over 10 minutes, making our stay quite uncomfortable.

Furthermore, my son was unable to fully enjoy the waterpark due to a group of older children who continuously blocked the slide for the entire two days we were there. Their behaviour went unchecked, and we even witnessed a physical altercation between two children that resulted in one of them bleeding.

As I am 22 weeks pregnant, I was looking forward to relaxing by the pool area, but this was not possible. Many chairs were covered with unattended belongings, even though the guests were not present. There appeared to be no staff monitoring the pool or waterpark areas to ensure fair usage or guest safety.

We chose to stay at your resort to celebrate my son’s birthday, but the experience did not live up to the standards we expected. I strongly encourage the resort to address these issues by implementing better cleanliness protocols, assigning staff to monitor public areas, and ensuring the facilities are maintained to a high standard.

I hope this feedback helps bring attention to these concerns, and I look forward to hearing how the resort plans to address them.

I emailed the resort this feedback, all I got was a “sorry, we look forward to welcoming you back” no compensation and I believe no desire to fix anything.

This is our second stay at Oaks Caloundra. Both times have been underwhelming. ||The rooms are in need of attention/maintenance. The rooms need carpet cleaning and the lounge shampooed, was very dirty. Ants and Cockroachs in bathroom. The grounds and facilities need attention. ||The reception staff this time were rude. The restaurant staff were fantastic, friendly staff and good food and lovely cocktails and mocktails. ||House keeping entered our room without notice, while we were not there.||Great for children under 8. Location is good.

Over all experience was great! Everything was very smooth. My 7 years old daughter loved the water park. It would have been better if that opens longer than 5pm but she had a fun time there.

Lovely family friendly resort with a variety of facilities for kids, with pools, water park, putt putt and jumping pillow. The rooms are nicely laid out but could do with some handyman work, variety of small things like chipped tiles and broken or wonky door handles and paint missing on the walls. The main bedroom didn’t have any aircon or ceiling fan which made it super hot, where the second room had no blinds so was super bright early hours of the morning and late into the night having the buildings outdoor lights on.
Buffet breakfast on site is good with the standard expected inclusions of hot and cold food but after 2 mornings of the same thing would have been nice to have a change in variety.
