Front desk staff are polite and caring. Programs vary significantly from what is provided in writing.
Examples like:
NILS program workers are rude and condescending, assumptions about information given at intake when all you are provided is document checklist.
The Heterosexist requirements for family contact and assumption of ‘family’ support as part of any form of intake, further they’ll ARGUE that you MUST have family or familial type contacts.

The ‘hype’ generated by the few that do get through to program support is very different to the low levels of accurate information given via ‘FAQs’ and ‘phone chats, which are easier’.

Vouchers not offered nor other support available if program staff “feel you don’t need it”. Save yourself the embarrassment of having to grovel and ‘act poor enough’ to satisfy the program staff- look elsewhere.

Webpage at least provides accurate contacts for alternative services; services that apply transparent and accountable eligibility criteria rather than personal judgement.

Really astounded by the lack of any level of professionalism in staff other than front desk.

This Community Hub is one of the best I've encountered on the East Coast of Australia. The Staff go out of their way to make all people feel inclusive & empowered so we can all get ahead in our lives.
The Northern Rivers Community Gateway are hands on, helping clients with information, Advocacy & referrals, financial budgeting, loan applications housing help, food vouchers, showers, laundry facilities & so much more.
Call in & meet some lovely local hard working folk.

Very hard to find in Goonalabah, two doors down from library and in warehouse looking building as they have moved there temporarily but saved by very friendly and helpful staff.
