Beautiful location overlooking the water. The room was large, bathroom a good size. We had quite a big room with a couch area. Yes it is oldy-worldy, but that's surely what attracts people to stay! Can't understand the negative reviews on that point, if you want full mod cons, this is not it. ||The snug with the fire was lovely. Breakfast was fine, there are options to purchase wine/beer if you want and a very nice gesture of help yourself to the port in the snug. nice and warming after a chilly day when we were there. tea/coffee facilities in the room. ||Parking right outside, easy to access the room. Very quiet, peaceful. You'll need to set out early to eat as most places close early. Nice pizza place down the road.

We stayed three nights in the family garden suite, which was good without being great. It's roomy, has a private bathroom and bunk beds in the same room as the queen bed so it served its purpose - clean, comfortable, quiet, non-haunted (or is it). Our hosts made our stay great. They were always welcoming, warm, attentive, generous with their time, knowledge, and home. Linton is a very interesting man to engage in conversation, the lounge with the fireplace was very welcoming of an evening, and of course the marvellous breakfasts. Taranna is in an excellent base to explore the peninsula and this is a fantastic home away from home.

I cannot recommend this place enough. The location is tranquil, the rooms are beautiful and you really do feel like you are staying in a piece of history. The hosts are also really lovely people who make you feel so welcome and at home (thanks Lynton for the history of the area I really enjoyed hearing about it!) They also provide a delicious breakfast with home made bread and their own delicious fruits compote. There is a library of books and dvds, so it is the perfect place to chill and recharge. I will definitely stay here on my next visit to Tassie 🙂

First time to the Peninsular and we couldn't be happier with the room, setting, breakfast and overall hospitality. Lynton is a great host and gentleman in the true sense: courteous and generous with his time and local knowledge - history, off-the-tour-guide destinations (much more to see than Port Arthur). And of course his famous homely breakfast. ||For dinner we came prepared with fresh seafood and wine and had a beautiful, lingering evening on the grass by the bay. Totally memorable.

We really enjoyed the homely atmosphere of our comfortable room, and the great garden with chooks. We particularly appreciated the delicious fresh bread, home laid eggs and home made jams that were available for breakfast, and also the friendly and helpful hosts who knew when to step back and let us relax and enjoy the atmosphere and surroundings. The sustainable efforts of the hosts were a plus for us, as well as the massage chair, info and fire in the lounge, and the jams and preserves available for sale. We only had a short stay after completing the 3 Capes Track but would be happy to go back any time, and to recommend the Convict Station to anyone. Thank you to Lorella and Linton.

We stayed in the Gardeners suite which is big enough for a family with double bed and bunk beds and a double couch and a single seat lounge also. You also have access to an outside courtyard and the garden to wander through too. Across the road is a jetty that leads out if you would like to fish off the jetty or enjoy a drink at sunset. Breakfast was included and our host had prepared two varieties of home made bread, jams, compotes and made us fresh tea and coffee and boiled eggs too, a lovely service to set us off on our daily adventures. Our host was very knowledgeable in the local history, area, dining etc everything we needed to know to make our stay easier.many thanks and you’ve set the bar for future accommodation in Tasmania.

The Norfolk Bay Convict Station is a B&B conversion of an early colonial building used as part of the Port Arthur Prison, being the northern end of the convict railway. ||||Situated on extremely picturesque Norfolk Bay, about 10 minutes car travel north of Port Arthur itself, the accommodation is now a charming place to stay which has retained an authentic aura of its past. The current proprietors also provide a wonderful breakfast of homemade delights, preserves, jams and homemade bread. ||||In summary it is true to the essence of Tasmania at its best, and I cannot think of a better recommendation for any visitor.

Wonderful owners at the ideal location to explore this beautiful Tasman peninsula. Happy to help arrange tours. Also sell home canned goods as well as wines. They make fresh bread every morning for breakfast. Definitely recommend this location to all travelers.
