From the second we drove in the drive and found Rosemary working away in her garden we were absolutely delighted! What an interesting, engaging woman! We stayed 2 nights in the amethyst room. It's small but very comfortable. A cute little ensuite with all you need, comfy bed, tv, fridge, and Rosemary is such the host! Breakfast is very satisfying with freshly ground coffee and anything you would ask for Rosemary would bring. A lovely quiet area up a steep hill if you're thinking of walking. Excellent area and surrounds! Not a single negative. Enjoy your stocks Rosemary we will miss you.

In a quiet street at the top of the Hill near Newcastle cathedral is this little bed and breakfast. I've stayed here on business many times, and Rosemary always makes me feel so welcome. There are 2 flats, both with off-street parking. I usually choose the Studio, with its Art Deco furnishings and view of the sea. There's a neat little kitchenette in the Studio that would also make it a nice holiday self-catering place for two. I love the fresh flowers from the garden and fresh filter coffee waiting, as well as the range of books and artwork and antiques. The breakfasts are also wonderful. Rosemary will cook you omelets, vegetarian or traditional English, all with freshly squeezed juice and home-made jam. The location is close to the station and commercial area of Newcastle.

I was engulfed by nostalgia the second I drove into the driveway at the Newcomen B&B. Thrust back to my childhood at the Aunt's and Grandma's in old-world charm. The atmosphere is truly delightful in spring, and Rosemary couldn't have been more accommodating or charming a hostess. We arrived with our adult children who were staying at the nearby YHA hostel, and after meeting Rosemary she instantly invited the kids to breakfast one morning. Our room with ensuite was tastefully and beautifully appointed and decorated in an art deco style, very private and quiet, with gorgeous leadlight windows we opened to admit the balmy Tasman Sea breeze.||||The location can't be beaten for the price in Newcastle, with everything within walking distance including funkadelic coffee shops, heritage listed pubs, parks, beaches, historic buildings, tours and international cuisine that is an experience rather than a meal. And if you're venturing outside the city, trains and buses to destinations in all directions are within a km of your lovely home away from home.||||We enjoyed our short holiday in Newcastle so much, and the delightful Rosemary and her lovely B&B were beyond our expectations.||||Thanks Rosemary!
