Myself and my boyfriend stayed for a night in the mid city motor inn, we have a lovely stay. Room was very clean, bed was Large and really comfy. Check in was quick. When we checked out we had asked to leave our bags in storage for a few hours and the man working on the reception was more than happy to keep them for us untill we arrived back.
Will definitely be back to stay again!

We have found a gem! Based in the heart of the city in Mackay. The customer service is exceptional & the cleaning staff do an immaculate job with Room service. Staff manager upgraded myself and my family of 4 to a twin room with a spa bath. The hotel also offers free laundry service, along with a pool to cool off, and an awesome entertainment area with a BBQ. The room is spotless, plenty of space to accommodate us all. If you are looking for somewhere affordable with beautiful views of the Pioneer River this is a steal and I highly recommend this place. We will be back again.

Super nice and comfortable! All the staff were super friendly and the rooms were perfect. A lot of space and very clean. They give you a lot of options of food for breakfast and you have towels, fridge, microwave, soap and a blanket at the room. And there's also a table with chairs, a TV and one aircon. Outside there's a space for bbq and a big pool. Honestly they deserve more stars. Thanks for everything! We will come back 🙂

This motel was the last stop of our road trip, and I think because it was the final place we stayed, it really highlighted how bad the experience was.

The front desk area looked like a messy storage room, piled with boxes. We parked in the back lot, and around us were old sofas, barrels, cabinets, and piles of towels (or maybe bed sheets).

A lot of reviews say it’s an “old motel,” but it’s not just old—it’s a clear sign they don’t care about maintenance or cleanliness. But that’s not even the worst part.

Since it was our last night, I had double-checked if they had a laundry facility before booking. It seemed like they did. So after we got our room key, I went to check out the laundry room. It was absolutely disgusting. The floor was covered in dirty tea towels, a mop head, a big old towel. There was someone else’s blanket still in the washing machine. The laundry room door had a sign with the hours “8 AM to 8 PM,” but it clearly wasn’t ready for guests. When we came back from dinner, that same blanket was still in the machine.

If you can’t even manage basic things like this, just lock the door and post a sign saying the service isn’t available.

As for the room, we just dropped our bags and went out for dinner. When we returned and actually looked around, the place was in terrible condition. The couch was falling apart, and the carpet had stains. Sure, you can blame it on age, but the broken tiles on the floor and around the bathtub are a serious safety hazard. The soap dispenser was corrosion, with a used bar of soap sitting on it. At that point, I gave up on expecting any cleanliness.

My husband said the bathtub was really slippery and dangerous for older people. I wouldn’t know because I refused to shower there or use their towels.

After seeing the condition of the room, my husband went to the front desk to report the issues, but no one was there. He called the number listed for the desk but didn’t get a response. After sending a text, we gave up for the night. At 10:30 PM, that number finally called to ask if we wanted to switch rooms. After a long 10-hour drive, we were exhausted and just wanted to sleep. The phone call woke us up, and we were done. I decided to leave this review and share what we saw.

My takeaway.. I should’ve read all the reviews more carefully before booking. This place is more than just old—it’s dirty and poorly managed. On our entire road trip, we thought small town motels would only do the bare minimum in terms of upkeep because there’s no competition. But every other motel we stayed at in small towns was clean, updated, and had friendly service.

Mid City Motel has a great location, but that’s about its only positive point. It really needs to step up its game.

This is a motel that needs explanation. Many things are wrong. Walking into reception looked like a store room, with supplies everywhere. I got a key that took me to a ground floor room near the advertised laundry, there were clothes and linen dumped on the floor with a nasty wet smell. There was wiring coming out of one of the machines, so I did not use them. I entered the room and the floor was stained by walked in dirt and grime. The fridge cupboard was falling apart from water damage. A single chair sitting in the corner of the room that was falling apart patches of vinyl missing. I walked into the bathroom to see paint missing from the walls, mould between tiles, rusted and corroded safety rails and shower curtains. A used soap bar was sitting on top of a broken dispenser. Reminent dispensers had been taken off the walls, however, glue and sealant has been left. The bath was extremely slippery to stand in, with safety rails corroded. The shower head was old and the functions did not work, with low water pressure. I went to reception and rang their bell twice, getting no attention. I returned to my room and sent a message via telephone. 10pm the staff rang me and asked if I wanted another room. By this time I was in bed after a 10 hour drive that day. This motel is severely lacking maintenance. Health and safety is definitely lacking. Dissapointed.

It's great, the staff/owners are amazing and very hospitalitable, the room are nice and spacious, location is very convenient and is located near all the shops, the pool is great for when its been hot and have came back here and always enjoyed my stay.

The location and price point keeps me returning to this motel. I work a 7/7 roster and this motel suits my needs. It's old, run down and not in any way pretty .... But the beds are comfortable, the continental breakfast is much appreciated and the rooms are spacious
