Our group ordered two Chicken Schnitzels and two fish and chips. Took over an hour and twenty minutes until we went directly into the kitchen and asked where the food was, which they stated we were the next ones up. After another twenty minutes and noticing several meals were being handed out to other customers we asked again. "Five minutes" said the server.

So we get our food nearly ten minutes later. No tartare sauce for the fish and chips as expected or gravy for one of the chicken Schnitzels. luckily they partially redeemed themselves by quickly correcting the sauce conundrum by giving us a gravy.

Food was as you expected from a pub, only with the added hour or more wait time included.

Words cannot express how welcome and inviting the Royal Hotel in Merriwa is.
The staff are absolutely amazing, polite, friendly and attentive and the food... OH MY GOSH.
Best scotch fillet I've ever had.
Cooked to perfection and served hot and, well, it was just PERFECT.

Friendly bar staff, great atmosphere and entertaining live music.
However it took well over an hour to get our food, my order (steak burger) was sloppy and wrong - was advertised to come on sour dough but came on multigrain bread, multigrain upsets my tummy and gives me pain when digesting, when I asked about it they said they didn't have any sour dough, if I had of known I'd have ordered something else. My daughter's order was wrong and came out overcooked yet cold (), and my partner's brioche bun was stale and gross. All this plus 2x surcharges added- 1 surcharge because I used a card to pay and another because it's a Sunday.
Definitely will not be back, do not recommend.

Average meals, wasn’t impressed with food was basic small portions and the quality was poor. One of the drinks from the bar that I got was covered in what looked like dog hair, very disgusting.

Food was lovely, but the service was terrible. Booked a table, and on arrival was informed no bookings were being taken? How does this happen, not to mention the rudeness of staff? Waited 50 minutes for our meal. The starter arrived with the main.

Visited for lunch. Great staff, great food.
I had calamari with chips and salad.
The salad was so fresh, I ate it. I always leave the salad with pub meals. So good.
Park behind the rsl for overnight rv stay and walk to the royal.
Beau is the bar attender. ? say hi ?

The scotch fillet steak was indeed excellent, as others have noted. This is a credit to the cook and the butcher.
The meal was quite large, came quickly, and the service was very good.

Cold beer, great service. The scotch fillet was one of the best pieces of steak I’ve ever had and it was cooking to perfection. Veggies and salads were very fresh and nicely cooked.
