Review of Mercure Penrith

I had the pleasure of staying at the Mercure Penrith recently, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. From the moment I arrived, the customer service was outstanding. The staff at reception greeted me with genuine warmth and were incredibly accommodating to all my needs throughout my stay.

The location of the hotel is perfect – conveniently situated near restaurants, shopping facilities, and attractions, making it easy to explore the area without any hassle.

What made my visit truly memorable was the complimentary room upgrade I received. The staff went above and beyond to ensure my comfort, and this thoughtful gesture made my stay even more special. The room was spacious, immaculately clean, and provided a great view, adding a touch of luxury to my trip.

The team at Mercure Penrith deserves special recognition for their friendliness and professionalism. They were attentive to every detail and always happy to assist, whether it was providing local recommendations or accommodating specific requests. Their commitment to exceptional service made me feel genuinely valued as a guest.

I highly recommend Mercure Penrith to anyone looking for a welcoming and enjoyable place to stay. I’ll definitely be back!

Our stay one night stay was excellent. Clean comfortable room. Easy parking & access to Panthers restaurants & bars. Staff at reception were amazing! They were polite, engaging, happy and attentive. I cannot speak more highly of the service the two young ladies provided during our short stay.

Came to stay at the hotel from SA, after flight delays we got in around 1am and to our shock there was a cockroach in the cupboard where the kettle is kept.
Person at the front was nice and quick and got us a new room. He offered us drinks but we were just so tired we wanted to get to bed.
We had an event at panthers which we wanted to get to from the hotel as it was humid and raining and we didn’t want to walk in the rain. We went to the front desk and activated it and paid for a membership and walked back twice because the ‘activated’ card was not working.
Finally, found out there’s a $9 surcharge… $9… I get surcharges but $9… be for real.
When you spend almost $500 for a stay you’d expect so much better. Will not be coming back here again.

This place was suitable for its purpose and we enjoyed all of the nearby dining options. We are foreigners so it’s possible that the issue we had is due to different cultural expectations but I think it’s likely a policy issue that should be reviewed by management. When we booked, we paid to have a child under 12 with us and I chose the "breakfast included" package as we would have early mornings both days with little time to waste. It turns out, there is some fine print *but only when booking, it doesn’t show up on the reservation* apparently children are not included when you pay for the room with the breakfast package fee. There are extra fees associated with the kids breakfast. Only the adults in the room receive the breakfast. The breakfast for age 6-12 was $13 (it’s a scaled fee by age) and there is no way my 12 year old could eat enough of the food provided to begin to justify that price…the food wasn’t even that great. It was fine enough for an inclusive breakfast but dearly lacking for the price tag (and then to be asked to pay even more than we already had was just insulting). After breakfast, I went to the front desk (as advised by the lady that I had to pay for breakfast over in the other building) and the associate on the desk pulled up some document (clearly this is a frequent problem) to show me and explained and pointed out on her screen how it would have looked when I was booking…that it would have said that "extra charges apply” on the opposite side of the screen, two lines below and in small print, so TECHNICALLY I agreed. It felt deceptive and wrong and expressed that I was unhappy about it at which point she asked if I wanted to speak to a manager. I was getting ready to say….Well…not really, I have some place to be and it’s early and quite frankly, I was not pleased to be stuck wasting my time on this at all, much less having to explain it again and be persistent about something that is obviously some corporate advertising gimmick to make kids seem cheaper than they are. At any rate, the other person she was working with over heard this exchange and said over her shoulder “is this about the kids meal thing?” (again, clearly a frequent issue) and she stepped in and did the right thing…i.e. took the charge off of our room...but it still didn’t resolve the issue of the next morning when we would run into the same problem again. So that was all very weird because even when I logged in to my account to verify it said BREAKFAST INCLUDED (it didn’t say “but only for 2/3 of your party”) I think it’s unsatisfactory that corporate is doing this to their staff, literally setting them up for failure. Between me, the lady at the restaurant and the 2 desk staff that had to explain the nonsense to us, in detail, when we walked up tired, uncaffeinated and ready for breakfast it started out a day with 4 people having to deal with negativity first thing in the morning. Maybe this is all a thing in Australia? I’ve just never encountered it anywhere in the world before. Weird. Finally, there were some minor cleanliness issues with our room and we were only provided towels for 2 people not 3 but this is all stuff I wouldn’t even mention if we hadn’t had the breakfast issue. We will likely stay again out of convenience but I won’t pay for the breakfast experience again.

The accommodation is as per usual an excellent place and have stayed at this hotel quite a lot being Accor members dealing with the hotel through Accor, also being a member of Panthers it is extremely convenient for us to visit normally from Orange.|On this occasion we met our family here on our return from holidays in Cairns|and found that they have already booked us in for 3 nights in a superior king room which was great as it is our usual but was not through Accor which is supposed to be the cheapest rate available being an Accor Hotel but with WoWotrip.com which turned out $20 per night cheaper but also included breakfast daily for us which at the end the cost difference was substantial.||Great family get together, but cost difference was a bit disappointing for our membership, we will see what happens for the next trip.

Modern clean hotel attached to the Panther Leagues club. All the facilities you'd expect from a Mercure Motel.

The only thing to be aware of is all the parking is all outside in open and unsecured car parks but is free.

The hotel is clean with good sized rooms but what sets it apart are the thoughtful and professional staff.

We were visiting for the NRL Grand Final and staff were quick to give us some banners for the game and prepare us for our return. On the day of the grand final we got a note warning us there could be some serious celebrating and giving us some earplugs.

Despite being very busy, the staff were attending and were always polite and professional even when dealing with some difficult situations like guests who had to be turned away.

More broadly, there are great restaurants in the vicinity and the reception desk serves good food and drinks at all hours.

The pool is nice for the warmer weather and there is ample parking. You can also walk across the road for Panthers games.

Stayed for a wedding and made a weekend of it. The place was amazing and I had asked for a room close to the elevators for my Grandmother's mobility issues and they made sure it was!

The staff were so lovely and friendly and I was sad to leave.
