A beautifully located hotel with outstanding service, providing a truly first-class experience from start to finish. The reception team deserves special recognition for their warm and professional welcome, ensuring that every check-in detail was smooth and seamless. Additionally, the breakfast staff went above and beyond, providing attentive service that made our mornings exceptionally enjoyable.

The hotel’s prime location is ideal, with numerous attractions, restaurants, and local highlights within just a few minutes’ walk, making it perfect for both leisurely strolls and easy access to key sights. Our room was a haven of comfort, especially with its exceptionally comfortable bed that ensured we had a restful night’s sleep, feeling refreshed each morning.

We wholeheartedly recommend The Medusa to anyone seeking an unforgettable stay in the area. Congratulations to the entire team for their dedication and attention to detail. We look forward to returning and experiencing this wonderful hospitality again soon!

Ophidiophobics might not make the Medusa their first choice of hotel in Sydney (the decor is very much on theme, with a particularly grim painting in the sitting room and a snake-haired bronze head in our room) but otherwise the place is without fault. There’s no lift, and we were on the top floor, but the delightful and effervescent Jesse welcomed us and wafted our two cases - a total of 37 kg! - up the stairs as if they contained nothing more than helium balloons and hummingbirds in flight. Thanks for your care and welcome!||The room was quiet and spotless and we valued the coffee pods and coffee bags, as well as a selection of tea bags. The complimentary Maltesers and wine were an unexpected blessing. The aircon was insistent that we check the menu in relation to some fault or other: no idea how even to start doing that, but the aircon worked so it can’t be a major issue. WiFi was fine. ||Comfortable bed but watch yourself on the frame - it’s wooden, has hard edges, and projects out beyond the mattress. Ouch, barked shin, but I doubt I’ll scar and it will teach me not to be careless. ||No food at the hotel - we recommend Rusty Rabbit for breakfast (the café, not as an ingredient) and Fortuna or Elettropizza for supper. But there are many many eateries close by in this vibrant suburb.||Travel to the hotel - whether from airport, Bondi or the harbour - is easy by bus or train: there’s a stop just outside for the half- hourly 511, but none of the other options are far away. If using Google Maps note the plethora of types of travel: T= train; L = light rail (tram); B = bus and M = metro. Depending on time of day some options are faster than others.

A quirky hotel, hidden behind a standard door. From the moment you enter you can see the theme in the guest lounge. Friendly staff, comfortable beds and a great location. We had everything we needed in our room and the local shops weren't too far away.

A lovely hotel, great atmosphere and clean, spacious and fresh room. To be able to stay in a hotel room that you can open the windows to, is simply phenomenal.

Fantastic staff - so kind and friendly. A shoutout to Jesse who was so accommodating when I explained that I was having surgery and might need the room for another night - he was most helpful and flexible, and a pleasure to speak with.

Absolutely will be staying here again!

Love this place, have stayed a few times. It is truly one of a kind and the vision that is behind maintaining the authentic charming old features while updating in a partially modern way, is something really impressive. Love the Aesop toiletries, decor, although it’s not super kid friendly as most rooms only fit a couple comfortably. Very close to bills Darlinghurst so it is no problem that they don’t have a restaurant in-house!

Unfortunately we did not have a good experience at Medusa Hotel. As beautiful the location and room was, our treatment from the owner was quite poor regarding damages to our property. A bag containing our belongings was removed as trash from our room and thrown in the bin. After searching the entire hotel for our belongings, we found it in the bin outside. When I raised this concern with the owner, we were treated rudely and the legitimacy of the damage was called into question almost immediately, even though cameras would be able to confirm. Following our meeting we came to a compromise, but then this was later questioned as we went into ‘restricted staff areas’ to find our belongings. Keep in mind this section was completely accessible to anyone who wanted to enter the bin area, and naturally after we noticed the items missing, our first thought was to check the bins. To have our intentions called into question was extremely upsetting and I would not recommend this stay due to our experience.
Furthermore, I had money taken out of my account for room damages when went I was not notified we beforehand or sent any emails to clarify such damage. Overall, the treatment from the owner was quite poor.
