We visited the 2024 Maleny Show on Saturday, 1st June. The ground conditions were a bit wet underfoot but the exhibitors and participants provided a very pleasant experience for a country show. Horses, dairy and beef cattle in prime condition and all available for inspection and education.
Despite the wet conditions everyone had an opportunity to enjoy themselves.

The best country show in the world. Such a wonderful community event. Can't recommend the Dagwood Dogs enough. Be sure to bring a jacket or layer up in the evening for the fireworks as it gets chilly.

Good evening.

Today I had the pleasure of visiting the iconic Malany show with my family as I do most years.

We had a great time with the animals, rides and food vans.

Until the following event happened.

The game, (See pictures attached) is to get 3 balls in the bucket by underarm lob. You can't rebound off anything and you can't reach forward etcetera.
First attempt, got the first 2 balls in. Then the 3rd popped out. It did sound like there was applied pressure to the underside of the bucket to shoot it out which made me think he might be pushing the bottom of the bucket out, which in tern pops back into shape when a ball hits it forcing the ball out.
Any way I was $20 down and that is fine, I understand the rules of the game.
I thought, I will go 8 balls for $50 just so I can get Aurora the Sky teddy she loved.
Proceeded to play again and got the first 2 in a row. I thought i would just mimic my previous shot and be really gental on this next one just incase the reaction effect was now applied to the bottom of the bucket.
Anyway, lob goes up, and it just glances the front of the bucket, one bounce, two bounce and the ball spectacularly stayed in. LUCKY SHOT. Aurora my 3 year old daughter was super excited and I was for her too. As we went to choose the large Paw Patrol Sky Teddy, the young arrogant game attendant said "sorry, your shoulder was just a little bit to far forward of the line.

I thought he was joking, as my stance had not changed in 6 shots. In the end he wasn't joking and denied my daughter and I the prize that we truly earned.

My daughter and I are devastated and are having second thoughts about returning.

Showgrounds are immaculately kept. Great place for pony club event. Huge canvas shelter kept dry during sudden downpour.

We visited the showgrounds for our first caravan shakedown, and it was a fabulous experience. Friendly caretakers and plenty of amenities, great location with the Obi Obi creek running behind us, and a short stroll into town. Will be using this one again for a spontaneous gateway when the occasion arises.
