The service was friendly and fun. Locals were lovely acknowledged but newcomers were welcomed. The lamb special I had was unbelievably great. One of the best dishes I’ve had in a long long time. Sitting on the patio watching children play as the sun went down while sipping wine felt pretty idyllic.

Dear Lord Wolseley bar Manager,
I would like to make a formal letter regarding your bar and to bring to attention of the two young gentlemen that work as bartenders by the name of Mark and Grant. They were exceptionally outstanding as bartenders and the hospitality is the epitome of excellence. If other bartenders could watch them work, listen and understand the reasons to work in a pub, that was it!
They acknowledged the patrons in a friendly and hospitable manner, they served me with great respect and the customer service was impeccable.
Having been a former bartender and lived in new Orleans among other cities, Mark and Grant could teach other Sydney bartenders a thing or two to keep patrons coming back, Keep up the great work fellas!

Lovely location, got the Wednesday night $25 steak and chips. The steak was overcooked but still nice. Good atmosphere nice area, good cocktails. I’d come again!

We were left without accommodation after our party received a late night, direct phone call from a Lord Wolseley staff member to inform us of their cancellation of our confirmed rooms just 18hrs prior confirmed check-in. This establishment is staffed by casual staff with no managerial support to them or to guests.
Chaotic management resulting in
very last minute cancellations to confirmed bookings made months earlier.
Our booking was confirmed via booking.com. but Lord Wolseley accepts bookings, using various platforms, to ensure full occupancy then, when overbooked, cancels last minute. When contacting booking.com re the cancellation phone call from the Lord Wolseley staff member, the booking.com agent was unaware of the cancellation.
Stay at Lord Wolseley at own risk &, definitely, have back up plans.

Nice location but the experience was ruined by the guy behind the bar.

Initially seeming helpful, but told us that there would be a limited menu, which wasn't a problem as what we originally wanted was there and there was a $25 burger and schooner deal on. Ordered burger, schooner, and a few other food & drink and returned to the table. Realised quickly that we were overcharged the price of a beer, so went in and politely asked if we were charged for the special. The bartender said "no, you didn't specify". I said, nicely, "well it was on the menu, so.." and then he said "well I'm not going to give you change because you didn't specify, that's life, c'est la vie" and then grabbed keys off the bar and stormed off into the back. Interaction finished - message received: you don't like repeat customers.

When the food finally arrived my girlfriend's plate was missing her sauce (sauce was specified on the menu) and when she asked for it the same guy said "uhhh, maybe" and then went back inside. 5 minutes later I went in and asked for the sauce again, since he had just returned to chatting with the girl sat at the bar. He said "I'll ask the chef and bring it out" in a huff. He finally came out and dropped the aioli on the table with a sarcastic "here we are team".

Just a really strange, unpleasant experience when I don't think it needed to be at all, and it's a shame with such a nice location and interesting decor.

Chicken burger wasn't great either (chicken overcooked, batter was dark brown & dry) but it is what it is.

Don’t recommend booking accomodation here if you’d actually like a bed to sleep in…
We had booked accom at the Lord Wolseley
more than 2 months prior to our weekend away, confirmed via email. I received a call from the Lord Wolseley property manager 18 hours before check in to say despite our booking they “probably” wouldn’t have a room for us as they had double booked- with the promise to get back to us ASAP. I never heard back from the property… 3 hours before check in and still no word about our stay.

I stayed here for a conference in Sydney recently. I was greeted by friendly, warm and welcoming staff and this was the highlight of my stay. It is a beautiful character property and my stay felt like a stay at home away from home despite having a shared bathroom. The staff kept the facilities exceptionally clean and it had a friendly neighbourhood vibe. Thank you!
