Looks like it was built in the 60s, last maintenance in the 80s. Shared kitchen is in a crammed container and the big beautiful shared space has a grease trap odor.

Ladies shower block has hot water, but the cold ain’t running Kitchen facilities you cannot use a plug to wash up, go figure? Needs a dishwasher.

Supplied bbq is rusted out and burners are held up with bricks to hold them in the gas jets.

Check that the smell is gone before you book and showers fixed and some water pressure is going.

Could be so good with a little love. Has great potential. It has a great big space for a family or group retreat.

Pool table, table tennis and games machine were a hit with everyone. Very nice location.

The word retreat what a joke. It is an accommodation stay. It is so run down. Showers didn't work or just sprinkled water. No heating in the rooms. No outside lights on the Friday night. I tripped twice. Then Saturday morning I woke to banging next door. Indian man labelling jars AT 7.00AM!!!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!! have your staff work later when there are guests in rooms both sides of this "packing room". There was no dish wand to use as per the signs amd no plug. Made washing dishes most unpleasant. There were 50 tea cups and 7 coffee mugs. No screens on windows. Rooms smelt musty. I would never recommend this Rundown Retreat ever.

Amazing property for a low key stay with big group of friends and family.
The accommodation itself is basic but absolutely fine. Linen, towels and even soap was provided. Especially liked that they had en suites.

The common room and kitchen are massive and easily caters/entertains a big group of people. The kitchen has a massive walk in fridge, all the needed appliances and tools/plates/cutlery.
The common room offers a lot of seating for meals and entertainment like table tennis, pool table, board games etc. A rainy day wouldn't be an issue.

I can see the seating area in front of the wood fired oven being very popular in winter.

The property has many well kept areas for a sausage sizzle, a run around for the kids or to sit and enjoy the surroundings.

One star has been deducted as they tried to get more money from us well after we made the booking.

If you are looking for stylish accommodation then this isn't for you. If you are looking for basic accommodation in a bush setting, then this is the place for you.|There's no staff on site so you'll have to book online and self check-in. I spoke to the owner a couple of times and he was friendly and helpful. |It's got basic dorm style rooms with no heating or cooling (my room did have a portable fan).|I had a room with a TV and ensuite bathroom so didn't use communal bathroom or lounge area. The communal lounge area had a TV, DVD player and a selection of DVD's. There were also a few books and kids board games.|Pool table and table tennis table. Also an arcade game, (money required)|The shared kitchen is a converted shipping container which is adequate for cooking meals.|Depending on what you like to do,  there are lots of places to visit in the hills area and are a large selection of shops and cafÊs.|Overall I thought it was a quite and relaxing stay.

We spent a night in the double room with the ‘shared’ bathroom. We suspect this place may have been an old scout or school camp. The rooms are more ‘dorms‘ than nice ‘Retreat’ rooms. There’s no heating or cooling, except for a fan. It was freezing overnight and the basin in the toilet was so tiny we could hardly wash our hands in it. The whole place was filthy. It doesn’t look like it gets cleaned. If it does, it’s not often. I spilt water and wiped it up with toilet paper, which was then brown with dirt from the floor. My feet were dirty after spending time in the room barefoot. The ‘recreation’ room had lots of couches and tables and apart from a Connect 4 kids game, and a dart board with 2 darts, there was nothing to do in this space. Oh, there was a tv. We didn’t use the shared shower facilities as they were disgusting. The floors, basin and toilets were all visibly dirty. They advertise having a coffee machine on one site, a B&B on their Facebook Page and on this site they even claim to have a coffee shop! Depending where you look they, variously describe themselves as a retreat complete with a permaculture garden, a B&B, and a resort. It is none of these things. I’ve stayed at better backpacker accommodation. There were NO staff there at all, even though their website says their chefs are there to cook for you at any time. It was self check in. The coffee pod machine was filthy and you were expected to have brought your own pods ? There were no ‘condiments’ in the shared kitchen at all and our ‘garden view’ was the corrugated iron roof top of the shower block. In the room there was a sign saying ‘please open the top windows during the day to ventilate your room’. However, my partner, who is 6ft 5in couldn’t reach the lever to open the windows. It was also NOT Covid compliant at all. No hand sanitiser, no signs - nothing. I mean they don’t even clean before guests arrive so why would they be Covid compliant. Do not recommend staying here at all.

The Adelaide Hills are the main attraction for this campsite. The original builders did a fairly good job. Although clean, the campsite could have been better maintained, the dining room is a bit dark because the centre row of lights are all missing/inactive. The owners, although friendly enough, have a miserly attitude compared to similar campsites and want to charge per room rather than per building and not allow access to extra facilities to save having to clean. Other campsites work on the model where you can make use of all the facilities/rooms but have to clean up after yourself. I did not get the impression that the caretakers really enjoyed being campground caretakers. But due to the location close to Adelaide I'm sure they are not short of customers. In terms of how they view the groups staying there, a few bad apples seems to have spoiled the bunch for them.

The tent area is very close to the road so noise from passing cars may be an issue for people sleeping in tents. Stock Road is a bit of an arterial road and gets cars all day and night, even on weekdays.

The campfire area is nice and well appointed with wood (charge for wood not collected by yourself). There are plenty of nice parks and scenery nearby if you have your own car. Worrowong Sanctuary is literally just down the road. The property is mostly a hillside with a dam at one end and the camp at the other end, the dam is a bit too far away for a casual visit and requires a bit of a climb to get back.

The campsite will do the job if you don't mind being confined to as few rooms and toilet/shower facilities as possible, and having signs everywhere telling you not to do something or that a facility is not in use.

Stayed with the family over the weekend ||Accomodation is cheap and the rooms are clean and tidy. Staff are fantastic, helpful and courteous. ||Rooms are basic but great facilities. ||Take a walk down the bottom. There’s fruit trees, kangaroos, koalas and beautiful forests. ||Not far from all the main towns in the Adelaide Hills. Great stop over spot but a couple of days is needed to really relax by the fire and get into the spirit. ||Going again soon. ||

Booked months in advance for a large group travelling interstate, had to reschedule a couple times due to covid, got to the point where we couldn't all travel on the selected date, requested a refund 3 months in advance to only receive 50% back. Owners wouldn't refund the rest because they said it was the airbnb policy - absolutely joke, will never recommend or stay - the definition of stealing $600.
