There’s been a 50 metre pool here at Lane Cove since 1961, but the flash new Lane Cove Aquatic Leisure Centre bears no trace of the original at all.

There have been so many upgrades: the biggest in 1998 and 2014 that added all the indoor pools, water play areas, spa, sauna, steam room and most importantly accessibility; culminating in the 2020 replacement of the Olympic pool with the shiny new one we experienced today for the first time.

All those facilities don’t come cheap. Adult entry is $9.70, but the quality of all the architecture, design and fitout is definitely superior to most. We particularly liked the row of outdoor sun showers complete with a wooden bench to keep your towel dry.

Fortunately some of the original grassed area and trees have been retained, making it a pleasant place in the middle of an increasingly built-up Lane Cove.

Its Achilles Heel is an all-too familiar one: seven of the lanes were dedicated to lappies, with only one left over for everyone else. We’re so over this trend. Here of all places it seemed particularly inappropriate, as most of the people attending on a Sunday were families and kids, who would’ve had much more fun with some more room to move and play and, you know, recreate.

Outdoor pool maintains it heat in winter! Early arrivers can stand inside out of the cold while waiting for the pool to open. Local council has free 3 hour parking across the street, open 24 hrs.

Great place, easy access and not overcrowded. Very enjoyable experience. Both indoor and outdoor pools are heated and the staff are lovely and very professional. The amenities are always clean. With a gym upstairs and a spa and sauna, it has all your needs covered.

Very convenient interms of location and amenities nearby. That includes lots of parking.
The facility comes with an outdoor and in door lap pool, children's pool about 1m depth. There is also a gym, sauna, steam room, and a spa.
Children's pool classes are available.

Though, the location of quite convenient and the prices are reasonable, the state of the center is not so great. For example, there always seems to be ‘stuff’ in the pool. It could be anything, from bandages to pieces of plastic. There was even a shred of vegetation in there! My eyes also seem to get very irritated when I enter the pool. Scientifically speaking, this means there is piss in the pool. The bathrooms also are in state of urgent maintenance. One of the men’s shower block third from the right has a missing door and hasn’t been repaired since the last fortnight. Any complaints about the bathrooms often seem to be ignored as the bathrooms have always stayed the same. This is quite unacceptable as a center this popular cannot be this messy.

I've been visiting Lane Cove Aquatic Centre with my family weekly for 7 years. While their service and facilities are generally good, the handling of lost items is consistently disappointing. Whenever we forget something, it seems to vanish, particularly high-quality items, despite their policy to keep lost items for a week.

Recently, my daughter left her watch by her swimming teacher's belongings. When we checked within the same week, the receptionist, Jessica, seemed annoyed and briefly searched a black garbage bag, dismissing any further effort. Only after prompting did she reluctantly check a drawer, but her attitude suggested a lack of genuine concern.

This recurring issue raises doubts about the integrity of lost item management at the centre. I've contacted management to review security footage and will update this review based on their response. I urge the centre to address this seriously to ensure customer belongings are respected and properly handled. Until resolved, I recommend visitors be extra cautious with personal items at Lane Cove Aquatic Centre. (will post an update here)

A well managed, recently renovated, with all the necessary amenities for a aquatic centre. A nice Gym, indoor playing area for children, spa, dry and wet sauna, although a bit small, two indoor lap pools for training and a big decent outdoor lap pool with a big spectator sitting area and some green area suitable for family picnic. The staff are very friendly. A small nice café with a good range of selections.

It's so much cleaner ! I am surprise to see the changes since my last visit 5months ago.
New outdoor 50m pool is awesome and the grand opening is on 3rd Oct 2020. With the gym facilities upstairs and new swimming pool, it's ideal place for exercise in Lane Cove.
