Tastes like it came out of a grandmothers kitchen. Very flavourful, everything tastes home made with great care. Sauces had different spices. Jalepeno corn bread is very nice. Coconut lime cake is a must have. Please try if you are in the area.

Another hidden gem in the bowling club, easy to miss. We got the Jamaican plate with jerk chicken and the portions were huge! We scraped off everything on the plate, the rice, the coleslaw and the chicken. We couldn’t believe how well done everything was. The chicken was juicy and spicy, the rice flavoured with coconut.

The owner was a gem. Despite being in the midst of preparation for a huge catering event, she took the time to come greet and have a chat with us. Even took the time to alter our order a little bit.

Highly recommend if you’re in the mountains

I always wanted to try Jamaican food as i wanted to explore and experience another taste and palette. Kokomo Island cafe made this come true. The food was exceptionally tasty, we loved the Jerk chicken topped with out of this world yummy "secret in house marinade". And secondly, the food is prepared and made by an authentic Jamaican chef to complement the experience. Its the real deal. 5 stars for the food. Thats all that matters. Thankyou

Legendary little hole-in-the-wall kitchen inside the Lawson bowling club. The Jamaican meals are amazing with the rice n peas and plantains. They've also got the best schnitzel in the mountains!

One of my favourite dinner spots in the mountains. The food is so yum and a great price. The jerk mushrooms are to die for, and the peach and mango chilli ?

We were in Lawson for the day when we stumbled across this hidden gem in the local bowls club. Sonia and her staff were so welcoming, and the food was excellent with generous portions. The jerk chicken Kokomo meal was sensational! The chicken was mouthwatering and the plantain was divine. They also offer classic dishes like a beef burger with the lot and chicken schnitzels! The chicken schnitzel was breaded in house and seasoned perfectly, paired with their gravy which was delicious. We were also big fans of their coconut bread pudding! Looking forward to our next visit to Lawson - I’ve got my eye on the goat curry!

Really delicious food. Had the jerk chicken and it was flavourful and so falling off the bone tender.

They’re also very coeliac aware, and have a lot of things on the menu that are gluten free. Sonia the owner also said she’s working on making more things gf, and saving up for a separate fryer (she cooked my plantains on a separate pan and they were delicious anyway).

Overall great experience, lovely owner and flavourful food!
