I visited Janefield Community Centre in July 2024 for a friend’s baby shower, celebrating her baby boy. She booked the large open room for about three hours, and it turned out to be the perfect space for the occasion.

There’s some parking available out the front of the venue, but with a big guest list it wasn’t quite enough for everyone. We ended up parking at Uni Hill Town Centre nearby and walking over, which was an easy stroll. The area itself is lovely and quiet, surrounded by residential homes, and the venue is a beautiful brick building with both stair and ramp access, making it easily accessible.

Inside, the hall features polished floorboards and lots of natural light thanks to the many windows throughout. It’s a bright, welcoming space that feels fresh and well looked after. There’s also a kitchen adjoining the main room, which includes basic appliances and cooking equipment like pots and pans. Which is super handy for anyone catering their own event.

The toilets were clean and located at the end of the hallway, and the venue included access to plenty of tables and chairs, which our friend used to set up seating throughout the room. She brought her own food and drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), along with some great decorations and a speaker setup for music. Everything came together beautifully and the space really transformed with her personal touches.

The room comfortably fit around 60 guests, possibly more, and there’s also an outdoor veranda that can be accessed from the main hall, which adds even more space. It’s a flexible venue that would suit a range of events, baby showers, birthdays, community events, you name it.

Overall, it was a beautiful day and the space really added to the atmosphere. From a guest’s perspective, everything ran smoothly and the venue offered plenty of freedom to personalise the space. I’d absolutely recommend Janefield Community Centre for your next event. It’s a bright, spacious and well-maintained venue that you can really make your own.
