I’ve stayed here with my husband a few times now. Staff are lovely but there is the odd experience that pulls the name down. Generally it’s a beautiful stay but I prefer the city Intercontinental. ||Positives|-Appreciate the glass of bubbles at check in||Negatives|-building is on the older side|-No chocolate in the Mimi bar 🙁 |-Events sometimes book out the Bar and rooftop resulting in no access.|- Staff are hit and miss. One staff member shrugged at the fact that he served a glass of red wine dripping from the glass which resulted in staining my clothes…

Had a wonderful stay here. I was offered breakfast at a reduced rate as I was checking in, so took advantage of their generous offer. The rooms are large and very comfortable. The room features a king bed which provided a great nights sleep. There is a Nespresso coffee machine in the room with 6 coffee pods. Wifi was free and fast. There were 2 bottles of free water in the room. The bathroom is a good size, but the shower stall itself was rather small.||My room service dinner was excellent, but reasonably expensive. They have a pretty diverse menu to choose from. Breakfast was very good, with plenty of hot & cold options as well as barista coffee. ||I liked the fact that it was in a pretty quiet part of town, rather than in the city itself. I would definitely consider staying here again.

Location, views, service, all fantastic. This is a real proper hotel. Built on a heritage building it has beautiful architecture and all the modern comforts. Buffet breakfast was fabulous and the GF lounge is so unique. Club Lounge on top floor is spectacular, with views of the Opera House. I love everything about this hotel.

Overpriced and overrated. Needed a refit 20 years ago. The pool bar is a sad reflection of the place as it appears to have been left to fall apart. Cost for ocean view room is not worth it given it's only an ocean glimpse. Suggest getting top floor or don't bother. I don't understand the high ratings and I also note not many other options in the area. Value point just not there.

One of the best hotels in Sydney, stayed at the fulllton in the city and the intercontinental double was far better from best breakfast buffet service room for comfort . The coffee at breakfast was world class. If in town must stay there great Outlook and location. |Special mention for fb and chef doing a great job but all the service standards very high . Will stay again

We held a wedding ceremony and high tea reception at the hotel courtyard. The events manager has been very helpful and responsive right from the beginning when we did our enquiry and site visit. We had many questions and requests, and the events manager tried her best to accommodate everything to make our wedding day extra special and smooth. She also communicated directly with our vendors regarding the wedding day's arrangements to save us time from going back and forth between the vendors and the hotel. On the actual wedding day, the banquet team did a great job ensuring everything ran smoothly. The canapes and high tea food items were also superb, our guests were really impressed and said they would be going back to the hotel again for their high tea.

We took two rooms here (travelled with parents). We were staying in Double Bay because we have a long history with the area, having lived here in the late 1990’s and kept a place here till early 2000s. This was the old Ritz Hotel and has been refurbished. The area is simply the best place to be in Sydney for convenience, shopping, eating and a village feel. If I visit Sydney I always stay here, go to Joh Bailey for a haircut (super place and a lovely guy) and eat either at nearby places like Catalina (Rose Bay), Margaret (DB - new Neil Perry place) and the literally dozens of fab places to eat either within walking distance or a 5 min Uber away. The hotel has a lobby you take a lift to and is plush. Rooms are good (we had two adjoining exec rooms) and the breakfast is nice. The gym they use is on the ground floor and is excellent. The pool on the roof not so great but there is a bar there so that’s good. Breakfast is good with a decent buffet selection. Service isn’t quite at 5 star level and they have some issues there - all minor but a little annoying. The laundry service isn’t great and they have lots of rules and times etc. This should never happen in a 5 star hotel, but to be fair when I said I was unhappy with the times and the forms and the slow turn around after initially hanging up on me (I was polite but there are definitely training issues here with some staff) the duty manager rang and said no again. I told him that wasn’t really how a 5 star should operate and that they should collect laundry when the guest asks and then give the times they can do rather than refuse to or in this case collect it and then return it to my room unwashed because it was outside the times and they wanted some form filled in (which the attendant whom collected it said I didn’t need to do as they would do it - which is what literally every single 5 star in the world does except this one). So the duty manager was also unhelpful but later someone else called and said they would collect the laundry and do it. We had room service one lunch also and it was fine but not amazing - having said that most room service is patchy everywhere. On checking in I usually get some recognition as an Intercon Diamond/Platinum Ambassador. I did this time in the form of some fruit etc but usually I get a one level upgrade of rooms and the hotel was far from full but not this time. I just feel this property needs a management shake up. Its position is perfect and I will stay again but the staff are all officious and quite cold and a frankly a little mean. I get the feeling they think you should be grateful they let you stay there - which is just insane. A bit of training and new management would fix it I am sure because the ingredients are all there for a fab hotel in the best position in Sydney in my view.

We loved every aspect of our stay, and were made to feel most welcome from the moment of check in with the delightful Charlotte, in the beautiful foyer. ||The hotel location is a lovely escape from the busy city centre of Sydney, but still easily accessible by the nearby ferry, or bus. ||Our room was clean, spacious and had a most comfortable bed, while the Byrdeo bathroom products were a lovely luxury touch. ||We enjoyed the buffet breakfast daily, and were very well looked after by Raba, who was helpful, professional and attentive, and remembered our drinks each day. The selection at the buffet is fresh and plentiful, with the addition of ordering some made to order items like an omelette from a menu, as well as the ‘make your own juice’ station and the ‘toppings’ for your choice of waffles, pancakes, waffles or crepes, kept all the family members vey happy. ||The rooftop pool and views were a bonus, as to was the use of the 24 hour fully equipped gym at the side of the hotel. ||We were made to feel so at home, we did in fact, not want to leave, and are already looking forward to our return when next visiting Sydney.
