Industry Beans Newstead is a must-visit spot in Brisbane's café scene. Nestled in a sleek, converted warehouse on Proe Street, this place offers a unique blend of industrial chic and cozy vibes. The open layout and minimalist design make it perfect for a laid-back brunch or a casual coffee catch-up.

The coffee here is exceptional. Roasted on-site, the beans are fresh and flavourful. Whether you're into a classic flat white or looking to try something new like their signature Bubble Coffee, there's something for every coffee enthusiast. The use of the La Marzocco Modbar system allows you to watch the brewing process!

The food menu is equally impressive. From the OG Avocado Smash to the innovative Porcini Nest, the dishes are thoughtfully crafted and beautifully presented. The brunch menu offers a mix of classics and creative options, ensuring there's something to satisfy every palate.

Service is friendly and attentive. The staff are knowledgeable about the menu and happy to make recommendations. Whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor, you're made to feel welcome.

If you're looking for a relaxed spot with top-notch coffee and delicious food, Industry Beans Newstead is well worth a visit. It's a great place to unwind, catch up with friends, or simply enjoy a quality cup of coffee in a stylish setting.

My partner and I had our wedding reception at industry beans in June 2025. It was a fantastic wedding and everything we hoped it would be. The staff at Industry Beans (including our planner Rachael) went above and beyond to ensure that everything ran smoothly and everyone had an amazing night.

The food and drinks were delicious, and fairly priced. The venue was beautiful, and had a light and airy vibe.

I used to work in the wedding business myself and have worked hundreds of weddings. I feel like Industry Beans' unique touch is that the bar tab will include some of the best coffee's in Brisbane. If your guests figure out that there are iced coffees with icecream or hot chocolates on the bar tab they'll really have an especially great night. This is exactly the sort of vibe we wanted 🙂 Plenty of good alcoholic options too.

I'd gladly get married here again (but hopefully I won't have to).

Love this place. Right from the moment you walk in, it’s like you step in to some hidden exclusive glasshouse in the forest in Japan. Parking is rough purely because it’s just street parking next to one of the ‘fancier’ suburbs and there’s not too much public transport.
The coffee is consistent and delicious with lots of variety and options in both hot and cold but also beans, with a booklet to help you learn and decide.
The food menu has a lot of variety with a strong sense of experimentation with unique flavours and ingredients, especially with an Asian focus.
Plenty of seating next to the in-house roasting area, kitchen and also retail area.
Only issues are parking and prices unfortunately but worth it, I’d say.

The Lobster roll is unexpectedly amazing. Coming from Canada, I know a thing or two about lobster 🦞. The small dash of caviar on the lobster makes it feel a little fancy.

Glad I went for this dish vs the Angus burger. The place is a lot quieter after 1pm as the kitchen closes at 2pm for lunch service.

Industry Beans delivers visually stunning dishes, but the experience ultimately feels underwhelming. While the food presentation is artistic, the portions are small and leave you feeling unsatisfied. I noticed many diners ordering sides of chips just to supplement their meals, which says a lot when you're already paying close to $30 for a single poached egg on a hashbrown with mushroom purée.

I also tried the truffle egg muffin, which cost $13 and was disappointingly tiny. Once again, the key ingredients were overpowered—this time by an intense capsicum sauce that drowned out any truffle flavour.

The menu tends to overcomplicate dishes with bold, dominating elements that overshadow the actual stars. For example, the fig and raspberry waffle was overwhelmed by a strong fig jam, making it hard to taste the waffle or raspberry, and the ice cream was flavourless.

On the positive side, the coffee is excellent, and the venue itself is beautiful—high ceilings, stylish interiors, and plenty of natural light create a welcoming atmosphere.

Overall, Industry Beans feels overpriced for what it offers. With so many other nearby cafes providing more balanced, satisfying meals at better value, it’s hard to justify the experience.

IBN is a delightfully bright and airy space to spend time with friends and really *really* good coffee. The service was relaxed, attentive and efficient despite most tables being full.

While there's obvious aspirations to greatness for the kitchen with some interesting and enjoyable foams and presentation, the dishes I tried mostly missed the mark for me. In hindsight I possibly should have guessed it wasn't the right venue to try an 'Everyday Muffin' which was dry and flavourless despite containing a crunchy, freshly cooked hash brown. It's possible we were also unlucky with our other choices, but my impression was that the person who created the menu wasn't in the kitchen that day.

If you’re a coffee lover, you’ll enjoy the variety of options they offer. The food is also quite tasty. I ordered a juice without ice (as I have a sore throat) and was informed that, without ice, the juice quantity would be reduced. However, as you can see in the photo, about one-third of the juice is actually ice, which doesn’t make much sense to me since I paid for the juice, not the ice. For this reason, I’m not giving 5 stars.

Took an impromptu visit to Industry Beans in Newstead today. Only had a quick stop on the way home, to see the venue, and buy some beans, but was pleasantly surprised by an impressive venue, a passionate barista, and a tasty coffee.
One of the Baristas, Bennie, helped me narrow down which coffee beans to buy, by letting me try the batch brews. She was super friendly, helpful and informative. Even took the time to let me pick her brain. Nice to see this sort of service in a larger roasting organisation. There was a good selection of single origin filter, and espresso options. Meanwhile, I could see the other baristas whipping up all manner of speciality coffee drinks and non coffee delights. Would love to try the breakfast and lunch options here next time.

Tried a single origin Rwinyoni, Rwanda and a Yandaro, Burundi. Look forward to brewing the Yandaro for myself once it's rested a little longer. Grateful they had fresh and ready to go bags as options. Super helpful for someone who takes a while to get through a bag of coffee.
