My daughter and I loved this place!! Stayed for the Summersalt Festival at Roche Estate (Pokolbin) and it was a quick, easy drive to & from. Avoided the traffic jams because most traffic went the other way. Easy 10-15 min drive to shops. Beautiful natural environment with immaculate landscaping around, pristine rooms with quality linen and comfy beds. No need for air-con with powerful celing fan and screend sliding door. Covered verandah with table and chairs under the verandah makes for a beautiful spot for morning coffee, watching wildlife and horses. Very well-run and cared for, clearly with a lot of love. Can't recommend this place highly enough!

Can’t recommend this retreat more than enough!

Firstly it is pet friendly accommodation which you can bring your furry babies with you for free staying.

Secondly my car was broken down on the second day of staying. Katrina the owner offered so much help to us. Taking us to town to get lunch. Let us to check out whenever we are ready. Nice environment and friendly people and friendly dogs .
Would definitely love to come back.

We spent the long weekend in a Villa at Hunter Valley retreat. Our group was 7 adults, 6 kids and dog. The Villa was clean and well maintained. The kitchenette was had enough kitchenware for our meals and facilities to heat up our meals. The location was quiet and peaceful. It was safe for the children to walk around on their own and explore. The staff were friendly and accomodating. The very big Great Dane Evee was an attraction to our kids ❤️?

Loved our stay here! Comfortable rooms, super clean, quiet and peaceful. Easy drive to Cessnock and Roche Estate (Pokolbin) for Summersalt Festival. Can avoid traffic jams if heading out via McDonald Rd so quicker to get to/from. Late night check-in was easy. Well-cared for and loved retreat with easy 10-15 min access to shops but feels like a million miles away from the hustle and bustle. Immaculate lush surrounds, comfy beds, fresh quality linen. No need for air-con with powerful fans and screened sliding door. Loved it. Highly recommended!!

We booked a 3 bedroom apartment for 2 nights and we enjoyed our stay. It’s super hard to find a pet friendly accommodation that accept 2 dogs and 1 cat at the same time, and with no extra charges! The retreat has a very good bush environment. We were exited to see a group of wallabies jumping behind our room and a big lizard on the tree. We had BBQ and a relaxing bush walk around the retreat. At night, we experienced our first fire camp. Katrina, the owner, is very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful spot if you’re after a retreat style stay , do yourself a favour & ask if they are hosting a “group” we were told only hours before when we called to say we’d be after 7pm out of courtesy ,that this was the case.

I’m not sure if “group” was the right description for the 30 or so of them , after witnessing some dude knelt in front of a tree & two very serious woman standing over him!!!

We just thought ok that’s odd and the people walking around filming others who looked solemn. We headed out for the day not really concerned , until !

The music started at 4 , what was a beautiful, peaceful spot turned into a rave party when the music started . I thought I’d stepped back into the 90’s only I wasn’t on E’s but I’m pretty sure the “group” were or just high on that cult feeling ?

I’m not exaggerating either it was loud and just how I remembered it ?.

We were told by one of the “group” that they were into Nature Therapy when my partner asked them why the guy was kneeling in front of a tree.
We only spoke to them because their dog had run up to us which is nothing but then proceeded to run into our villa ? ?.

What should have been a peaceful night with a BBQ letting the kids walk around & a fire to end it with at the well stocked fire pit with marshmallows. Ended up being us trying to stop the kids from escalating since loud noise/music is a huge NO NO with neurodivergent kids.
And since trance music is all about heightening your mood & it was pumping out full blown only 20 metres away it was anything but a retreat.

The “natural therapists” managed to scare the birds and any other living creature away , leaving only them and the family in #30 who were now convinced they were in some Hunter valley Waco scenario.

Now I’m all for others enjoying themselves, do your thing .
But if you’re the owner & you know this group ( cult) are going to be screaming , yelling ( I think they were singing or trying to) for 3 hours straight playing rave music at full blown . Break for 30 minutes , then off and on to 930pm with really bad drumming and some crazy yelling and laughing & clapping then silence ? rinse & repeat.
You should let other guests know or don’t book anyone else in .

I was going to see Katrina myself this morning but we decided it was best I didn’t .

Next time you have your “group” or a “group” staying don’t book out a room to a family who have zero to do with them .
We paid good money to give the kids somewhere safe to be and without going into theirs and our circumstances you totally ripped us off.

Other than that it is a beautiful spot besides the cult members . Rooms were clean , no aircon or fans . Beds were big and comfy.
And you have to wash your dishes in the bathroom sink .

BYO Kool aid & ear plugs if the Nature Therapist are guests as well.

The place was so peaceful and had everything we needed. We are definitely going there again. The lovely lady at the reception was also so nice and welcoming and gave us a thorough summary of all the activities we could do, that was highlighted appreciated.
