Our experience at the Hougoumont Hotel was absolutely incredible. The location is exceptional, perfectly situated in the heart of Fremantle, close to everything but tucked just far enough away to feel peaceful and relaxed. The rooms were modern, spotlessly clean and thoughtfully designed for comfort. The lobby is beautiful and the complimentary continental breakfast was a lovely touch in the morning.

What truly made our stay unforgettable was the staff. Marco went above and beyond by insisting on checking us in early, personally ensuring the room was ready and even delivering our bags himself. The lovely lady at reception greeted us with a warm, genuine smile every time we passed by, creating such a welcoming atmosphere. When we accidentally locked ourselves out of our room, the team quickly resolved it with no fuss and they even let us keep our parking space a little longer before heading home.

The level of customer service we received was exceptional, professional, kind, and truly respectful. We felt valued from start to finish. I’ve already recommended the Hougoumont to friends and family and wouldn’t stay anywhere else when visiting Fremantle in the future. Highly, highly recommend!

We stayed at Hougoumont Hotel for two weeks in June 2025 and had a wonderful experience. The location is unbeatable — right in the heart of Fremantle — and the rooms were clean and comfortable.

The staff were exceptionally warm and helpful. Special thanks to Maricar, Emma, and Ella at reception for their daily support and friendliness. Although reception isn’t 24/7, everything was well-managed and smooth.

We loved the thoughtful touches like complimentary coffee, plenty of drinking water, and fragrant shower gel and shampoo. They also arranged a sofa bed for our kids and helped with airport transfers. Highly recommended for families or anyone visiting Fremantle!

Great stay in a great location with no noise issues despite being so central to everything. The deluxe room was a bit smaller than expected, but we were luckily upgraded to a bigger room due to AC problems. Loved the wine and cheese offerings next door in the pub, but breakfast was quite minimal and had very limited seating space.

As on our previous visits, we were made to feel welcome and valued from our arrival to our departure. The room was spacious and very comfortable and, like the rest of the hotel, very clean. The shower and toiletries were great, as was the tea and coffee in the room.||The Calamity Rod bar just along the road offers a good choice of beer and snacks, with a happy hour and welcome drink for hotel guests. Emily Taylors restaurant also has a link to the hotel and is well worth a visit. The hotel is centrally located but quiet, with access to a wide range of eating, drinking and sightseeing experiences - and you can borrow a bike to get around if you wish.||The free afternoon cheese and wine is a nice touch, offering an opportunity to engage with other guests and share tips on places to go and things to do. Breakfast was relatively simple but most enjoyable - the artisan bread and the coffee are particularly good. ||The staff we encountered were unfailingly warm, friendly and helpful. They clearly follow the example set by the manager, Marco.||The story of the connection with the Hougoumont, a convict ship, is interesting and well told.

Fantastic accomodation!! Our other accomodation got cancelled and Marco (who I think is the owner) saved us, he gave us a great room with balcony for our entire stay last minute! He is a lovely man. 100% recommend, complimentary breaky and wine and cheese in the evening is amazing, and it’s so close to everything. The reception staff are also lovely.

We stayed for 2 nights and loved it. The room was small but had everything we needed. What made the stay great for us was the delicious brekky (highly recommend the fruit bread), the complimentary wine and cheese each arvo at the brewery next door and, of course, the lovely staff. Highly recommend!

Beautiful rooms. Always clean and tidy when you come back in. Has shower gels, shampoos etc in the shower. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I love the historic information that is used throughout the hotel.

Brilliant boutique hotel in the heart of Fremantle. Nice rooms, great bar and lounge too . Staff are fantastic. Location is perfect. Rates are amazing. I won't stay anywhere else
