I first ate at Hotel Lowood in 2018. What a great place each time I've had lunch there. This time it was Wednesday. It's hard to make a decision about what you'll order with the extensive menu and the current meal specials if you purchase a drink.
The Chicken Schnitzel with French topper won me over and I do think it may be my favourite parmy variation of all time. Please don't take it off your menu Hotel Lowood cos I'll be back for it again ! We'll done as always.

I recently visited this pub with my younger sister, hoping for a relaxed night out. Unfortunately, the experience started on a sour note thanks to a staff member who wasn’t exactly welcoming from the start.

I forgot my ID in the car—an honest mistake—and was met with a frosty attitude that could freeze a pint. No worries, I went to grab it. When I returned, I handed it over with a light-hearted comment about being flattered to be carded. Her response? A curt, “Don’t be flattered.” Charming.

It wasn’t until later that my sister filled me in on a little bonus interaction. While I was fetching my ID, the same staff member approached her and started unloading about how she’d had a tough day, throwing in the gem, “You’re probably a secret shopper,” as if that explained her behaviour. For the record, I’m not. In fact, I thought this was an American thing and then had to Google exactly what a secret shopper even does. But if I were one, this performance would have been... memorable.

Looking back, it’s clear she wasn’t exactly warm from the start because she’d somehow decided I was a secret shopper the moment I walked in. Talk about jumping to conclusions!

Look, I understand people have bad days and I do empathise with that, but you don’t get to be rude to people who are being kind to you. I’ve been through a lot of tough times myself recently, but that’s no excuse to take it out on others. She had no way of knowing what my life is like, just as I didn’t know hers, but I still treated her politely and respectfully. Treating people rudely because of some bizarre secret shopper paranoia? That’s a new one.

If you thought I was a secret shopper, how on earth did you think that approach would get you a good review? Spoiler alert: it didn’t.

*edited to add that the other staff members were nothing but pleasant and the previous times we’ve dined here we had not had an issue!

Very comfortable one night stop over. Stayed whilst using the BVRT, plenty of room for bikes inside. Huge TV, fridge, comfy bed. Shower could use some attention but did the job.

Order taker was not intrested in what we were trying to order giving disengaged "huh?" Response to each item. Orders came out wrong , tables ajacent us also had orders come incorrectly. Food was at least edible but leaves much to be desired

always a good place for a couple of drinks good service and great meals wouldn’t go anywhere else
Caz and Reese always greeting us with a smile and a joke just what you need at the end of a long day
The James guy ginger beer and electric shots are our favourite

It's a Great looking motel. Was concerned about the hotel being too noisy, but can not complain about any noise.
Lovely updated rooms, big arse TV, and great furnishings.
My only disappointment were
1. a dried up face washer in the shower - I'm guessing the cleaner missed it
2. Super sized king bed was 2 king singles pushed together and gave a hard middle, so I didn't cuddle up to hubby. Each side was lovely and comfortable, though
