Reviews of Hotel Kurrajong Canberra

Liked: Friendly staff, charming heritage vibe, larger than typical standard room, nice cold fridge, big bathroom, well maintained room and public areas, excellent quality TV.
Disliked: Smaller cushions on the room tub chairs would be better as the ones used are way too big.
More serious however is the relatively recent change to a new car parks gate control system that came with expanded parking capacity from one to two car parks, something that was desperately needed. The new car parks access control is best described as ineptly implemented, with thoughtless positioning of card readers making it almost impossible to open the gates without getting out of your car, and poorly implemented sensors for boom gate raising when exiting, so that once again, exiting the car to use the car reader or contact reception to get the boom gate raised was needed. Rectify the car park access control system so the $18 per day fee to use it is then justifiable!

We had a generally enjoyable stay at the Hotel Kurrajong, with its convenient location as a major highlight. The neighbourhood made for easy, free street parking over the weekend, which was a bonus. The building itself is charming, and there’s a nice mix of historical ambiance and modern amenities.
However, we had a few hiccups that detracted from our overall experience. The chrome cast in our room didn’t work, which was frustrating, as we had hoped to watch a movie one night but couldn’t resolve the issue. We also noticed inconsistency with the towels—on the first night, we had large, plush towels, but these were replaced with smaller ones later, which was a bit disappointing.
The bed, while adequate, was slightly firmer than we’d have preferred, and the pillows could do with an upgrade. With a few improvements in these areas, the stay would have been close to perfect. Overall, though, it’s a solid choice for a weekend stay in Canberra with great access to the city’s highlights.

If you appreciate attention to detail, the Kurrajong may not be too enjoyable. The price of $400 for one night is too much. ||The front desk staff were v friendly and helpful. There was a handy ev charger which was free. ||Might have expected slippers and a face washer at this price. Breakfast was a la cart and fine if you like bacon eggs etc-

Hotel Kurrajong Canberra offers a charming blend of colonial elegance and modern comfort, making it a delightful place to stay. The hotel's architecture and decor give off a nostalgic, classic vibe, which adds to its unique charm. The staff are welcoming, personable, and always ready to assist, contributing to the warm atmosphere.
The on-site café stands out with its delicious menu, offering a range of dishes that are both well-prepared and flavorful. Whether you're stopping by for a quick snack or a full meal, the dining experience is satisfying and well worth trying.
One downside is the hotel's location, which is a bit removed from Canberra's city center. While this provides a peaceful, quiet retreat, it may be less convenient for those looking to explore the heart of the city on foot. However, the serene environment more than makes up for this, especially if you appreciate a more relaxed pace.
Overall, Hotel Kurrajong is an excellent choice for those looking for a stylish, peaceful stay with great service and delicious food.

A very comfortable hotel in a convenient location. Rooms are small but spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Dining is good, if a little expensive. An open fireplace in the lounge is a good place to be on a cool evening.

The accommodation was great. Only outdoor parking. Restaurant has nice breakfast and dinner, although service could be refined. History was amazing. We will certainly come back, and recommend to others.

Lovely quiet comfortable hotel with lots of history. Great location. Close to Parliament House, National Gallery, Lake Burley Griffin with amazing walks nearby. Can't wait to go back again in November.

Walking into a welcoming significant landmark in ACT rich in political history we really enjoyed our spotlessly clean & fully modern room, along with nice breakfast & delicious evening meal at chifley's bar. Easy walk to lake Burley Griffin the position being right next to the Carillion
