I recently stayed at Hotel Indigo Potts Point, and I have to say, I was thoroughly disappointed. This hotel brands itself as a "vibrant, upscale boutique" offering "authentic local experiences" and "personalized service," but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to any of these promises.
From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the hotel was far from the "luxury" experience it claims to offer. There was no assistance with our bags at check-in—something I would expect from a hotel that markets itself as upscale. The parking lot was also a nightmare. It was cramped, smelled unpleasant, and had awkwardly placed posts in front of the spaces, making it difficult to maneuver our car. As first-time visitors to Sydney, we felt frustrated by how poorly the parking situation was managed.
Inside the hotel, things didn’t improve. The room lacked basic amenities like bottled water, which is a standard feature even at mid-range hotels. Breakfast was underwhelming at best, offering little variety or quality, certainly not what you’d expect from a property that promotes itself as offering "authentic local experiences."
Overall, this hotel did not meet the standards of a 5-star property, or even a true boutique experience. It feels far more like a budget hotel with an inflated price tag. I was hoping for a more vibrant and personalized stay, but unfortunately, I won’t be booking at Hotel Indigo Potts Point again.
EDIT: Thank you for your response. I would like to clarify that I did stay at Hotel Indigo Potts Point during the dates of November 13-18, and the issues I referenced were part of my experience. The booking was made under my husband's name, and we encountered the challenges mentioned in my review.
Regarding breakfast, we encountered an issue with a third-party booking site that incorrectly listed breakfast as included in our package. Once we arrived, the hotel staff kindly addressed the situation and provided us with complimentary breakfast for the first day. I want to emphasize that this review is not intended to criticize the hotel staff, who were helpful and understanding in this regard.
However, my review reflects the overall experience, which did not meet the standards I would expect from a 5-star hotel. While I appreciate the efforts of the staff, the property itself did not align with the level of luxury and "vibrant boutique" experience it advertises. In particular, I was addressing the breakfast offerings in general, which I felt were not on par with what I would expect from a 5-star hotel. The options were limited and the quality did not reflect the high standards typically associated with such properties.
Additionally, when we asked for water, we were directed to use the QR code next to the bed to order bottled water at $6 per small bottle, which seemed excessive for a hotel of this caliber. We were never informed that bottled water was available upon request, and this was not communicated to us at check-in or in the room, leading to confusion.
I hope this helps clarify my experience for future travelers who may have certain expectations for a 5-star property. Thank you for the opportunity to address this.
