I give this place 2.5 out of 5 stars. I’m going to go into the pros and cons.Pros:- Amazing location! Absolutely love the view from my balcony. The surrounding area is also extremely nice. - The food from the restaurant on the ground floor was really nice, had great meals and it was in a great location right on the water.- It has free underground parking with plenty of space.- Price was great for the area.Cons:- While the staff were friendly, the person at the front desk wasn’t really helpful at all. I asked to change my room and he said he will see what he can do and give me a call. He had my number but never did, and when I saw him the next day he didn’t even mention anything.- The rooms are nice but banging noises from people walking around travels through the walls, and there’s no way to block it out. Our room also was right next to the door that people use to go to the pool. At 5am people would use the door and it would slam shut, vibrating the walls and waking me up multiple times! It was the most frustrating thing! - There was a space in the carpet were it was really brown and dirty. You can see in the photos the difference in colour. - The food was great, but one night I ended up waiting over an hour for some pasta, and there was 4 people in the restaurant. There was only one person making food, which is just ridiculous! Overall it was fairly good.

Had to wait while one of our 2 rooms was made up but the room that was supposed to have been made up had only had the beds done. Toothpaste splattered across the bathroom mirror, toilet unscrubbed, no face washers, hand towel or bath mat though there were fresh towels on the beds. The kitchen hadn't been done as there was no dish cloth or liquid for cleaning only 2 tea cups, no mugs and the fridge contained half eaten yoghurt, a full bag of grapes and a 1/4 of rotten watermelon its juices all crusted under it.The well frosted freezer contained a partially eaten iceblock frosted into the freezer, obviously it had been there long enough to be frosted to it.The kitchen had not been stocked with tea coffee sugar or most importantly for me milk (being a little fussy I bring my own tea and coffee)I have doubts about if it was vaccumed due to the pills as several other items on the carpet. I mention the pills as we had young children with us. The aircon remote had no batteries or back to it but we just swopped out the batteries for the T.V. remote The cleaner sent to remedy this politely made it clear that she wasn't the one who'd made up the room. She cleaned the mirror restocked the face washers, hand towel and bath mat, removed the food from the fridge and freezer and upon request gave me a cloth for me to scrub off the crusted watermelon juice. The beds were clean (I checked) with fresh sheets and comfortable. They were clear that they expected courtesy to others by not making alot of noise late at night or slamming doors. The pool area could have been cleaned. I don't know where the dirt came from but it was there when we arrived and still there when we left. The lobby chairs I wouldn't sit in, needed a good scrub with soap and water. They unlocked the freezer at the Cafe late one night for us to buy ice cream. The staff were helpful and polite. The kids loved playing ping pong and swimming.

Disappointed, attended the cafe for brunch with friends. Had to order drinks & meal on a touch screen. Drinks came out within a reasonable time. However, our friends received their meals, but we didn't get ours after a considerable wait time (friends had finished their meal). My partner went to enquire, and they were checking on where they were. Finally, 1 meal came out, and it needed to be gluten and dairy free. Unfortunately, it was not. Due to time constraints, we advised cancel meals, and we received a refund.
It's such a shame, has a great location, and has the opportunity to be a lovely spot for breakfast, brunch and/or lunch overlooking water and boats.

I recently endured a two-night booking at Hope Harbour Hotel that quickly devolved into an exercise in frustration and disillusionment, compelling me to cut my stay short to just one night. From the outset, subtle red flags emerged. At check-in, I casually inquired whether my credit card was required for a holding fee—a standard query—and the curt, indifferent response of “no” immediately set an unsettling tone.

Later that evening, around 11:30 PM, I stepped out for a cigarette and encountered a disconcerting scene just a few rooms away. A small group of guests was openly engaged in smoking methamphetamine, with one individual even nonchalantly admitting to the activity. This blatant disregard for safety and decorum left me profoundly disturbed.

Returning to my room, I was confronted with conditions that could only be described as deplorable. The room itself was shockingly filthy, with grime evident on nearly every surface. The corridors and even the bedroom doors bore unsightly marks and scuffs, clearly reflecting a chronic neglect in maintenance. In the bathroom, water had accumulated in the shower, eventually flooding onto the aging terracotta tiles—a stark indicator of long-standing disrepair. To compound the issue, the bed linens were rough, scratchy, and emitted an unpleasant odor, raising serious concerns about hygiene.

Seeking recourse, I inquired about a refund for the second night. However, the response was as dismissive as it was unhelpful. The receptionist—barely present at the desk and apparently reliant on a “drop-box” system—refused my request, stating they would “hold the room” for me. This cavalier attitude toward guest satisfaction confirmed that such service failures were not isolated incidents.

In summary, while the hotel’s entrance may initially exude a semblance of charm, this superficial appeal is swiftly undermined by pervasive cleanliness issues, significant maintenance oversights, and an unsettling atmosphere rife with safety concerns. Regrettably, I cannot in good conscience recommend Hope Harbour Hotel to anyone seeking a secure and hygienic place to stay.

The hotel is really good value for money. Beds are comfortable and as it is located in quiet area, that gives a chance to get a good quality sleep. Definitely better to have a car when staying in this hotel as it is a bit far from anywhere. Area itself is very ellgant though. Great service from reception team. We had a beautiful vue on the marina.

I checked in on Monday afternoon and went to my room. After unpacking I laid on the bed with a cup of coffee as I had been driving for five hours to get there. Within ten minutes a guy walked into my room dragging a suitcase. I was up off the bed in a flash and he took off saying sorry as he fled. You need a pass code, not a card to enter the room so obviously the receptionist gave this bloke my room code. I went straight to reception, but it was empty. There were half a dozen people waiting to check in. They were told the receptionist went to pick up a mate from work and would be back in 5 minutes. They said they had been waiting there 40 minutes. I went back down to the reception half an hour later and he said sorry and that was it. He had given someone else my room entry number and sorry was all i got. I never slept for two nights , every noise i heard sounded like my door being opened. I had a 5 hour drive back home with no sleep. The aircon barely worked and took two full days to start feeling cool and I couldn't get hot water through it. It took a couple of minutes to get it to shut off. The mixer was obviously had it. I was down on the coast to visit and help care for a n old mate of mine who doesn't have long to live. I left early morning and returned later at night so no one on reception to inform about my problems. I expect I will have several more trips down to the coast but will not stay here again. I hope this gets passed on to the Hope Harbour management.

Beautiful location, but I value service over that. The hotel is older but very nice, would be a LOT better if it were cleaner! The pool table area was filthy, just needed a wipe and vacuum, but perhaps they’d been busy.
The actual pool areas were worse! Cigarette butts and band aides on the ground, broken deck chairs laying about, rotting wood and broken doors.
Fire Extinguisher box in hall was EMPTY!! So don’t stay here if you want to use an extinguisher to put out a fire!!!
The girls toilets had no hand towels to wipe your hands, even though I reported it to the receptionist at 4pm, it was still empty at 9pm. AND the next morning.
The purple haired bar lady serving was horribly sour and unfriendly - the ONLY saving grace for the bar was the View AND the Lovely/ Friendly/ Awesome manager. He was super smiley, welcoming, made great pizza AND drinks and made the place welcoming despite other staff members. Well done to the manager. Thank you for a lovely night.
