Possibly the best schnitzel I've had around Newcastle. Huge portion size, great atmosphere and the food tasted amazing.

My five year old has allergies to dairy and egg. We came in for dinner tonight with his soccer team to celebrate their end of season. I asked the person taking orders what ingredients were in the nuggets (explaining my son’s allergies), and she wouldn’t tell me. I was pretty shocked and asked if she could just tell me the brand of the nuggets so I could check for myself online instead. She rolled her eyes at me, walked away and came back and said ‘nope, the chef said he can’t say for sure’. I asked if they were from a packet or made on site - and she said they came in a packet. I said that’s great I just needed to know the brand, and she sarcastically told me I probably shouldn’t ‘risk it for the biscuit’. I asked what I was meant to order for him and she just said the chef wouldn’t guarantee any of the food. I ended up having to leave because I couldn’t order him anything. I have never been so disappointed in service before. I wasn’t asking them to make sure the food was safe, I wasn’t asking them to take any responsibility - I just wanted to know the ingredients in a pre-made item. The person serving me was so unnecessarily rude, and I have no idea why. Beware to those with, or who have children with, food allergies. We definitely won’t be back!

I go to Holmesville hotel regularly of recent but today was just a joke. Went to celebrate my birthday with a small group (7 people). We were waiting for our last 2 to arrive as they were running late. We sat at a table and staff saw us their. At 1 pm when we went to order we were told there was no chips. I understand deliveries can run late but as we were there for 45 minutes a staff member could of advised us there was no chips. We had to leave as most of the menu items come with chips. Very disappointed.

Nothing in rooms by a bed and TV. Coffee making facilities and a wardrobe would be nice to add other than that it was a great place to stay ?

Nice friendly hotel. Cheerful staff, meals good size & fair price. Clean tidy rooms. Plenty of seating inside or out with big screen TV's.
Surprisingly no mirrors in rooms women need there mirror ?

Visited the pub with friends for dinner and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals - one veg burger, one lamb cutlets, one lamb rump & the scotch. Really tasty, good value and plentiful (loved the FRESH veggies, not a frozen one in sight). ||It’s been years since we visited this pub and they’ve really done some great renovations and the beer garden is excellent for an evening meal in the fresh air. ||Unfortunately we missed the 8.30 cut off to order dessert so if you’re after anything from the kitchen be sure to watch your clock as they close on the dot.

Food is generally pretty good.

I'd recommend avoiding the pulled pork burger.
It's basically a sloppy wet bun filled with tasteless meat and sauce.
I've been pretty happy with almost everything else on the menu.
