Easy check in / check out process. There's a $100 security deposit hold on your credit card which I'm not a huge fan of, but the rooms were clean and pretty nice considering the cost and the area. Wi-Fi is not great but serves basic functions, beds are not super comfortable. Would probably stay again if I'm back in Cairns.

We could not see out of our window because it was completely smothered in pigeon manure… (photos attached), when the shutters were opened for fresh air the manure was IN our room, and the pigeons that have made home to the side of the hotel kept us awake the entire night. ||Our fridge contained previous guests food including ROTTEN FRUIT and OLD SUSHI that was out of date by 3 days! ||Our sheets also contained old stains before we had. touched them. ||My worst experience in a hotel, I would highly recommend booking elsewhere for a peaceful and clean stay

We booked a stay at Hides Hotel from February 9th to February 14th but were physically unable to reach Cairns due to severe flooding. Despite multiple attempts, including two bus journeys and a flight, all of which were cancelled due to the extreme weather, the hotel has refused to offer any form of refund or even a partial credit. Their reasoning? The flooding is “not their responsibility.”||While we understand that we booked a non-refundable rate, good customer service is about more than just policies—it’s about fairness and basic decency. The hotel incurred no expenses on our stay since we were never able to check in, yet they insist on keeping the full amount. To make matters worse, when we reached out to discuss the situation, we were met with a dismissive and condescending response, telling us we should “plan our trips better” as if we could predict a natural disaster.||This experience has shown us that Hides Hotel cares more about taking customers’ money than about providing fair and reasonable service. We will never book here again and strongly advise others to think twice before doing so. If you value customer service, flexibility, and understanding, look elsewhere.

Location is good.
Place is quite hot when compared to Melbourne. Take cotton/breathable fabrics.
Have Indian Hotels around to choose and have lunch/dinner
Hotel breakfast is bread,butter,jam and wide variety of cakes and fruits.
Nice walking place as there are many shopping places near by Woolworth and other shops.

Fantastic location right in the heart of Cairns, clean and tidy rooms and the staff are friendly and very helpful.
I booked online through a broker and didn't realise that on-site car parking was limited. The staff worked through the problem and before I knew it my home on wheels was safe and secure.
Walking distance to everything in the CDB, haven't tried the breakfast yet but I'm sure it'll be great too.

The wash basin taps made sharp whistling sound when opened and required too much effort to open and close. They were very hard.||The shower mixer was outside the bath area and it had a strange mixing mechanism, whereby you could either get cold water in the shower or hot, and not a proper mix.||The location was very very good.

The pictures look really nice but the reality is old and in much need of TLC. Smells like smoke, grubby walls, wires hanging out. Everything comes with extra charge - even holding luggage for 2 hours after check out. 2 weeks on and I'm still waiting for my $100 key deposit to be returned.

There are much nicer places for the same price in Cairns. Top location though.
