Beautiful house in a serene setting, with a gorgeous view of the lake and a cosy fireplace. We were a group of 15 postgrad students and the house was perfect for us - the kitchen is well-equipped for big cook ups, and we thoroughly enjoyed the board games and the ping pong table. Henry (the owner) was responsive and lovely to deal with. As per other reviews, the driveway is quite steep and a bit gnarly, but all our non-4WD cars were fine, we just drove up it very slowly. All in all, a great stay.

After reading all the glowing reports of the Hideaway I was very disappointed when my extended family and I arrived in January. The road into the house was suitable only for 4WD vehicles with major washouts all the way in. It was impossible to drive a normal vehicle in. On arrival to the house the front door was covered in scratches from dogs I assume. Many of the window frames were similar. There were various framed mirrors unsecured and leaning against some bedroom walls. Most unsuitable when we had three toddlers. The glass pane coffee table was badly chipped so we had to hide the top from the children in case they cut themselves on it. The BBQ was rusted out and only 2 of the 4 burners functioned. The TV in the kids room did not operate. The concrete stairs down to the mango trees were broken and a trip hazard. We found 3 faulty power points. The access zipper on the trampoline was broken which meant that the little ones could fall out. Most of the outdoor chairs were damaged and some were broken. There were numerous large wasp nests which should have been removed. The air conditioning was only in the living area. We purchased some fans to relieve the heat and left them for the next guests. Although the linen was clean some towels had large holes in them. There were spiders and cobwebs throughout the house. The privacy latch in the 2nd bathroom was broken. Numerous downlights were not working.
When I pay an owner such a large sum for a weeks rental I expect at least 4 star accommodation even in a rural area. This house and it fixtures, fittings, swimming pool etc is tired and is in need of a major overhaul. I have rented houses around NSW for my whole family in the past and this house was the worst I have experienced.

An extremely disappointing stay in every way. The driveway, the cleaning of the pool that needed to be done, the bins that needed to be dragged down the very very long driveway and back again. A very expensive holiday for what it was.

Great weekend away. Couldn’t really fault the place other than the driveway but overall it was a reasonable place to stay for a large group.
