I have been a resident here for about 3 months and am extremely thankful that Ann Zemo and her staff welcomed me into their home. I call it a home because it isn't a boarding house or a hostel.
Yes.there.are people here that have mental health issues and while some may say I suit the profile I am not a mental health resident. But it has been an eyeopener for me here and I watch everyday as Ann and her team manage the residents with respect and care that is amazing.
Now if you happen to walk past a smelly person as your walking your French Poodle how about walk in the shoes of the people here at Herston. And if you still want moan and groan about it try volunteering to get to know them and see what happens!!

Often walk past this place, usually at night and I often hear screaming and swearing. I have engaged with residents outside the premises who have crossed my path, and often they smell like they have not showered in months, and they do not speak properly in any coherent language.

They say that this place supports mental health illnesses, but it seems like it’s more of a place for them to be cooped up together away from society, however someone forgot to look the doors and administer some actual care. This place seems like more of a zoo than a treatment facility, hence why there have been numerous stabbings in the past.

I often see shady deals happening out on the street directly in front of the lodge, so seems like this ‘lodge’ doesn’t really support the stoppage of drug addiction, rather it fosters it.

I am all for the support of mental well-being, however this place is like an open-air insane asylum, with the people living inside not seeming to be properly looked after and managed, and the people living next door and around the lodge feeling the negative effects of this dilemma. Overall, something needs to change in this lodge.

The living conditions are poor for a home away from home. This place was designed for people who are unwell and not as a motel or accommodation for the average person. I love near the lodge and regularly hear screaming and swearing coming from the lodge. Facilities are old. Would not visit at all.

Herston Lodge's supported accommodation offers a much needed service. The staff are caring and friendly and the management are constantly looking for ways to ensure the residents mental, emotional and physical health are taken care of.

If I could score this place no stars or a minus I would. It's not fit for animals. Rotten food. No privacy. Criminals Dirty and filthy. Don't believe the website photos. This 'lodge' should be closed down.

Herston lodge is much needed part of the community. Once anybody gets to know the residents and give them the respect they deserve like any other member of society you get respect and trust in return.ive personally worked with a lot of the residents and seen them grow and become happier people with the support and care provided at herston lodge by all the staff and support agencies. I would recommend herston lodge to those in need with out hesitation.
