The rooms are BIG and the bed was comfortable. The bar and restaurant are convenient and well priced for the area. It is very convenient for the shopping centre, including Woolworths, and is just a short walk through the neighbouring campsite to the beach for some fabulous sunsets.

It's not the fanciest accommodation you'll find, but it does the job and the friendly staff will do what they can to meet your needs.

Six of us had dinner tonight, as itโ€™s an easy walk from the caravan park, the staff were nice but very unorganised, took ages to get wine prices and a poor variety .The meals were quite good but were not served at the same or even similar time. The seats are timber with no cushions. It was a 3 star and will certainly go back to the bowls club for our next meal.

Had a meal in the Bisto. Now it was early around 5.30 and it was a bit quiet.
But that's it, the rest was fantastic. Great service and plenty of delicious food. I had the Sourthen fried chicken pieces (without the green stuff just chicken and chips), and it was very nice. Followed up with sticky date pudding, and the missus had spaghetti Mariana. She had to get a takeaway dish and managed another two serves from that.
Do yourself a favour, and when in Weipa, go try it out.

Great friendly staff. Meals are plentiful and a great variety. Keep in mind its location in FNQ and they do a great job with what they can get. Love the Parmi menu. Rooms could do with some loving but I am sure that will come. They work as they are. New owners are great and have made some good improvements since they have been there
It's a work in progress and the locals are supporting it which is always a good sign. I will be returning. Kids enjoyed the pool being operational.

We arrived not expecting much but were pleasantly surprised. The managers, who are new and their staff could not be any more obliging and the room was dated but very comfortable. The pool was lovely and dinner was delicious. Being right next door to the shopping centre was an added bonus. The manager has great plans to update this resort so Iโ€™m sure youโ€™ll be happy if you stayed here.

Good location in the town centre of Weipa yet near the beach (5 min walk), only 2 min walk from shopping centre and Woollies, and across the road from hospital.

I'm not sure that I would call this a resort, but it all depends on what a resort means to you. For the location near the beach and grassy area around the hotel, yes, but to me, resort means upperscale, perhaps even luxury.

I was not expecting luxury anyway, so to me, this was perfectly fine for what I needed, and I had a very pleasant stay.

The rooms are definitely dated but they are clean, very spacious, and with all the amenities you would expect, including a kettle, toaster and microwave so you can be self sufficient with the nearby grocery store if you chose to.

Lovely owners and staff members, helpful and friendly.

I visited in the wet season, so very quiet inside and outside the building, I can imagine the place would be popular in the dry season.

Swimming pool on site although on the day I went to jump in there was a layer of dust and bugs sitting on top, not very attractive but the next day the pool looked clean and inviting.

There is a restaurant on site open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Coffee shops recently open with nice strong coffee decent size too and reasonably priced. I got takeaway pizza one night, which was delicious. While waiting for the pizza, I even had time to walk to the beach and watch sunset.

Only 15 min drive to/from airport which by taxi was $15 per person.

Overall, I was very happy with my stay. Slept very well in the huge bed, would definitely return.

One of the earlier reviews - 'Manage your expectations' - sums it up very well. We found Pauline and her partner very friendly and welcoming, ready for a chat and advice. I encountered an interesting phrase used by the locals during our week-long-stay - there's good, and there's Weipa good. The Heritage is Weipa good: good considering Weipa's isolation, often transient workforce (miners and associated workers going in and out, including early in the morning at the Heritage), and visitors often in 4WDs heading off to even remoter areas. It is not a resort in the Port Douglas sense, a place to go and stay in luxury and venture out of occasionally for a tour. It's a base, a motel. You enter through the Woolworths car park, and about a third of the rooms face the back of the store about 15 m away. Our rooms faced the other way, into a patch of woodland, which was very pleasant (especially as I watch birds), but we were warned to keep all the sliding doors locked and chained. The rooms are a good size, with unusual furniture (perhaps due to its reportedly quirky past), but all a bit tired. If your neighbours are at all noisy, you'll hear them, as well as any early risers. The meals are 'pub grub' - tasty but nothing special, but the young staff are lovely and do their best. So don't expect a resort, but a remote hotel, and you'll be fine.

Went to the restaurant for dinner with work colleagues. The chef forgot to make my meal. I had to tell a staff member that I was still waiting for my meal. (Nearly an hour later). Everyone else had finished their meals. They told me it was "on the way". No one apologised until I asked for a refund. They told me the could not give me one.
