Had an event for 16 people for my brother and sister-in-law for their combined Birthdays and the service at the Bistro was impeccable. The food was amazing - and we had four special dietary needs - which didn’t faze them at all. The food for 16 people came out so quickly. It tasted SO good and we have all decided we will repeat this event at the same place. Can’t speak highly enough of our whole experience there. Thank you to all.

Stopped here on way to Tamworth. Had the family room which the kids loved. Dinner was outstanding. Brekkie included (continental) - simple, but perfect. Staff were friendly & helpful. Loved this place! Perfect traditional old Australian county Pub!

Staff were very friendly and the food was amazing. Chicken Schnitzel was so moist and salad was fresh with a very tasty dressing, chips crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and seasoned well. Venue was clean and tidy. What I loved was the service with a smile and prompt.

Whilst the bed, curtains, tea-making, shower and airconditioning were ok, the room light (a long fluoro tube) is on the wall over the TV and would be suitable for interrogating prisoners. Extra blankets and an electric blanket were a good touch. The evening was a bit noisy as 4WDs arrived and left the pub. The free continental breakfast in the Bistro was good - everything like bread and cereals - was hygienically individually wrapped. I don’t think my booking confirmation told me about the free breakfast, nor did the staff at checkin, and the only place I could find the start time advertised was high up on the wall at the hotel checkin (I found it on Day 2). I think for wifi you have to ask at the pub - I waited five minutes and no staff came near me, so I didn’t get wifi. The bakery across the road has excellent pies and cakes six days a week, and there is a small supermarket is next to the bakery. Several stern signs at the Bistro declare No Takeaways!, however the compendium in the room says you can take your meal back to your room on the plate (pity I didn’t read that until after I walked out of the Bistro and ate a bag of crisps for dinner). I’d recommend taking some foil with you to cover the plate. I’d read the steak sandwich and butter chicken are good, and I can confirm that (the chef must discard the fatty and gristly bits - appreciated!). Unfortunately the chips which came with the steak sandwich were overcooked. Now I know what to expect I think I would stay again

What absolutely delicious 'pub grub'!!!! The most EXCELLENT meal quality for the right price with a lovely, homely dining area. It truly felt like home. Helpful, friendly and accomodating staff. Will certainly be back in the near future.

Wife and I travelled all day and were hungry for a great feed. Both ate the pork belly - great choice! Huge menu to choose from lots of great seafood, chicken, lamb, steak and international options. Usual large pub meals but also really delicious.

Have to say we were hugely disappointed - it was gorgeous outside but only ordinary inside. Don't stay or eat here if you are hoping for classic country pub and value.
Full-on heritage outside but much of that was stripped out or was just very tired on the inside.
Public bar looks like it is was re-done in the 60's and is ripe for heritage restoration or an update. Not very inviting, 1 beer was enough. There was no lounge bar or equivalent.
Rooms were expensive and VERY tired. But they were clean.
Breakfast was included in the room rate but it was ABYSMAL - instants coffee, sugary cereals, rotting fruit (literally) and toast etc.
The bistro is highly rated "Voted Best Dining North Coast 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022" but I cannot see why and maybe there has been a change in the restaurant's direction.
Our meals were only ordinary (Salt & Pepper Prawns w Calamari and Grilled Barra). Maybe we should have tried the steaks but they were pricey even by capital city standards. There was a large selection but there no clear online opinion of which dishes they excel in.
The wine list is nothing to write home about but prices looked ok.

We were hoping for a thought we paid enough to stay at a classic country pub and instead got tired roadside motel quality
