Located at Cowper Wharf Roadway, Woolloomooloo, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺.
This is the original Harry’s Cafe de Wheels. It’s served customers for over 80 years including many famous people like Elton John. I always like to come and grab something to eat or drink and look at the many great photos. It’s a classic look, shoebox shaped building. Very vibrant. It’s a very memorable experience to come. The pies and hot dogs have always been delicious. It’s pretty well known for the tiger pies with the mashed potato and mushy peas but it’s not my choice. My friends lived it though. It’s very centrally located directly across from Garden Island, you have a fantastic view of the navy’s ships and it’s just metres from Finger Wharf. The service has always been pretty friendly and quick. There’s no tables to sit at but there’s a few benches with stools. It’s not exactly the cheapest place but I think people come just to say they have eaten at Harry’s Cafe de Wheels, let alone the original one. I would recommend a visit. Thumbs up!!! 👍👍👍

I was walking by Harry’s Café de Wheels and it immediately caught my attention with its classic, old-school look and vibrant atmosphere. I had heard about this place before but seeing it in person made me want to stop and check it out. The location is amazing, right by the waterfront in Woolloomooloo, with a really authentic Sydney feel.

I decided to try their famous Tiger Pie, and honestly, it was even better than I expected. The pie itself was packed with flavor, and the combination of the creamy mashed potatoes, mushy peas, and rich gravy on top was absolutely perfect. Every bite was comforting and delicious. You can really taste why this place has been around for so many decades — it’s simple, hearty food done right.

The service was quick and friendly, and the whole vibe of Harry’s just made it a memorable experience. Whether you're a local or a tourist, it’s definitely a must-visit spot if you want a true taste of Sydney’s street food history. I’ll definitely be coming back next time I’m in the area!

Went here our first night after arriving in Sydney and it was the perfect tired after long flights meal.

Beef pie tasted good and the fries were nicely seasoned. The crust of the pie was slightly tough but made it easier to pick up and eat.

What more can be said about this iconic place that hasn't been written already. Well, JUST GO for yourself and find out! We ordered the Tiger Pie Deal (pie topped w/mashed potatoes, mushy peas, & gravy) and chips and a drink - $18.50 AUD and Roast Beef Roll - $11.90 AUD. It was one of the BEST meal we had in Sydney! We sat outside and enjoyed our lunch near the water. MOST DELICIOUS and memorable experience!

Visited Harry’s Cafe de Wheels on the 13th April 2025. We went for some lunch and it didn’t disappoint. We went for the Beef mince pie, Mash, mushy peas and gravy. You can sit in the stools at the back of the kiosk or use nearby benches. Certainly hit the spot. Only a 20 minute walk from Circular Key through the Botanical Gardens to Woolloomooloo. Would highly recommend.

Many online sources call this place a must-try and a Sydney signature, but to be honest, I didn’t enjoy the tiger pie. It felt ordinary—nothing special—and was stuffed with a lot of ingredients. It’s more like food to keep you full when there aren’t other options. While it’s inexpensive, it’s probably best to come without high expectations.

When I lived in Sydney, I used to go to Harry's quite often as there was one nearby. Since leaving Sydney, I only come back a few times a year and try and get a Hotdog'd'wheels whenever I can. The hotdog was very spicy, and it tasted like I remembered it. The beef pie has chunks of beef throughout, which is always a bonus.

I went to the caravan in Woolloomooloo, which doesn't have inside dining. and it was a little cold outside, but other than that, there were good views of the harbour and garden island, as well as the businesses which are on the same street.

My local friend introduced me to this local tradition comfort food. It is a legendary place.

The pie taste so yummy and the crust is just nice and compliment the meat, mashed potatoes and the best part is the gravy, such an original flavor.

The spot that they choose is also nice with a good view of the military vessels.
