Food amazing, manager was quite efficient. Dark haired lady staff(tattoo behind left ear) behing the counter/bar was extremely rude. She was happy to serve all the other Caucasian customers with a brilliant smile and greeting but was abrupt and rude to us. Eventually the manager had to step in and accommodate us. They were extremely short staffed on a public holiday, we had to wait for almost an hour to get our food. This ladies treatment of us left us feeling extremely put off on what would have otherwise been subpar experience.

Room was awful. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to stay there. It’s the worst room we have ever stayed in. Only positives were it was quiet and had clean sheets. So many negatives to list but a few are, a small double bed with a steel frame at the end so uncomfortable unless you’re very short. No exhaust fan. A tiny shower curtain which was gross and short the water went everywhere. Curtains were old and thin. Very basic furniture.

Just Wow! Totally impressed with the accommodation. Spacious and good quality. Ended up having a meal as well, fettuccini and the curry of the day which was butter chicken. Good size meals and would have to say the taste was right up there!! To top it off the service was great. Couldn’t have asked for anything better.

We visited the Bar and gaming lounge and Sarah was such a pleasure to interact with. She was kind and welcoming and even offered to put my melting chocolates in the fridge while I enjoyed my drink. She was so friendly and very considerate, a great asset to your establishment. Definitely a place everyone should visit since their staff are so great!

My family and I—including five kids—were really looking forward to lunch, but our experience was ruined by the rude behavior of the bar staff. After being seated and given menus, we were told food orders had to be placed at the bar. We waited patiently in line for quite some time, only to be rudely waved off when it was finally our turn.

The lady at the bar made a dismissive hand gesture and said she would only take orders from the customer before us. When we politely asked why she wouldn’t serve us, she said (almost snapped)
, “You guys can stay there as much as you want, but I won’t take orders. There’s no food, man.” Her tone was dismissive and felt unfairly targeted, especially with our five children in tow.

Thankfully, the manager intervened, apologized, and took our order, which we appreciated. However, the bar staff’s attitude was unacceptable and lacked the basic courtesy that every guest—families and children included—deserve. It felt unwelcoming and borderline discriminatory. I hope management provides the necessary customer‑service training to ensure a respectful environment for all patrons.

Friday 16th May.
Asked the bar staff (young male) what the 5 different gin types were as I couldn’t read the labels - ‘Just gin’ was the reply. I have never met such a downright rude individual working behind the bar as this one. Needs to go on a customer service course or let someone who really needs the job have it. The food was lovely but we won’t be back even though we are here for a week.

We loved the service at the old mill, food was fantastic and staff were super friendly and helpful. The gaming manager was great to talk to as well.

Our stay was lacklustre, the rooms looked clean until the bugs started to appear. There was broken glass in our fridge. The TV remote didn't work and had to climb the bed to turn on and change channels.
Found it a bit odd the cleaners came every day just to fold the bed sheets but didn't change the bins or refresh the towels ( stayed for four days)
We did enjoy the jet bath but had to clean it ourselves first before using and sourcing a bath plug took a while.

We will be coming back for the food and great service but not to stay for the weekend again.

If you are in South Australia, stop in the little beautiful town of Hahndorf, and come visit the old mill hotel for a good ol country meal. I’ve been to restaurants, bistros and five star restaurants all around Australia and I can tell you this, the chicken parmy, salt and pepper squid and steak sanga was so bloody good, it blows all other restaurants out of the water.
