We recently held our wedding reception at Glenelg Golf Club, and it was an incredible night that was very well organised. From the moment we arrived, everything was beautifully laid out from the plans we had arranged with our event manager. The room and setting was perfectly customized to suit our special day. With a stunning dining room, menu and dance floor layout, and soft lighting, it created the perfect atmosphere we wanted for ourselves and guests. The event team was great and helpful, and the hospitality staff were attentive. We would love to return for future events and will highly recommend.

Steak was VERY dry and inedible. Carrots were rock hard.
Zucchini entree was ok. Chocolate lava cake was very nice.

Went here today for the first time.Great venue and staff are brilliant.Food was fresh and well priced.Toilets were immaculate which cant be said for a lot of places.Definitely be back.

The Clubrooms are quite large and could hold up to 200 if you wish to hold a conference or wedding.
Lovely views from the balcony.
There is Wheelchair access ♿ and parking available.

I played as a visitor of a reciprocal club from Melbourne. Glenelg was super friendly/welcoming place where everyone seemed to want to say hello to me. Enjoyed the course experience and the beers at the end.

I never wanted to write a negative review, but 2 months after our wedding & I’m still thinking about our experience at GGC, not in a positive way. Most issues stem from our event coordinator, Natasha Bryant, who has since left GGC, but as she represented GGC at the time, we feel it’s still worth mentioning.

I barely had 3 bites of my dinner before it was taken away & told it would be brought back out with my dessert so that it wouldn’t be in the photos, but neither my meal nor dessert was ever returned. My husband’s dessert was also not brought out. Additionally, we had 11 guests cancel on the day of our wedding, which we understood was a risk given that it was a surprise wedding/engagement party. However, all of these meals were still paid for, yet they were not brought out, even after other guests pointed out that the extra meals were not being served & would be eaten. A guest who had stepped away to the bathroom wasn’t given her meal until she specifically asked for it, as she was not in her seat when the meals were initially brought out.

Communication with Tash was frustrating. We had to repeat ourselves at every meeting, with important details often missed or not documented. We were also told 3 times that we’d have different MCs/DJs, which added stress. A week before the wedding, we got the final invoice, and noticed it had errors, including charges that were already paid and incorrect vendor meals. When we asked for corrections, we received someone else’s invoice. Tash called my husband & gave a series of excuses, including how she sent it when she was tired from coordinating another wedding & blamed our conflicting schedules for her difficulty in communicating with us, rather than simply taking accountability.

At our final meeting before the rehearsal, Tash informed us that if guests became too intoxicated, they would be cut off; however, since it was a wedding, there would be drinks on the tables, and they wouldn’t be able to control if people drank them. However, on the night of our wedding, my husband finally had a chance to get a drink after the formalities, only to be told by the bartender that the manager had ordered the bar to close. A family member of ours asked if they knew he was the groom, but the bartender still refused to serve him. We later learned that Tash had closed the bar due to a disagreement with some of our guests, and rather than handling the situation appropriately, she made the decision to cut off everyone, including the bride and groom without informing us or speaking with us.

At one point in the night the dancefloor was falling apart & instead of handling the situation professionally, Tash began yelling at all of our guests, including us, to get off the dancefloor.

Many of our guests have since told us that they found her to be extremely rude throughout the day and night.

As part of our wedding package with GGC, we were promised a one night stay at the Grand Stamford in Glenelg. Organising this with Tash was unnecessarily difficult. Even on the day of our wedding, we thought everything was finally settled. Tash assured us that if there were any issues, the hotel could contact her. However, when we checked out the following morning, we were told we needed to pay immediately. Getting reimbursed for this took longer than expected and was just another frustrating aspect of an already very disappointing experience.

At our first meeting, we were confident GGC would deliver a beautiful wedding, but after every subsequent interaction our confidence diminished. After our honeymoon, we emailed GGC expressing our frustrations. We met with Anna who explained Tash had known for some time that she was leaving GGC, leaving us feeling like our wedding was not a priority for her. Whilst we appreciate the $1500 refund & free dinner, this does not change how we feel about our wedding, an unforgettable day that cannot be redone.

This experience has been so disappointing & while we recognise Tash is no longer with GGC, we feel that the way our wedding was handled reflects on the venue as a whole.
