Nice gardens but the kids play area is a miss. Supposed to be renovated but just fenced off doesn't look like anything is happening and was supposed to be finished by now. My grandson was very disappointed.
Cafe staff are lovely, helpful and friendly.

A beautiful part of Darwin. Completely different here in the dry season. Lots of birds, trees and walking trails.
They were setting up for a concert the next day in one area.
Great place to come and sit, read a book, go for a walk or have a picnic.

We came to have a look the garden today (5 June 2025 ), went to their information centre, got the map of the garden. Very difficult to follow the map and the actual garden especially when you're an elderly. A few section were closed today.
The garden itself was well kept, tidy and clean. Ended up spending the whole morning at the nice Cafe there.

This place has changed so much since I was hear about 15 years ago. Loads of things to see. Best to go early, before the heat if you can. But the cafe is great for a refresher, good drinks and a cool spot. I loved the lilies. My daughter thrilled to find a Jackfruit tree as it's one of her favourite fruits. The Boab garden and dragon garden were especially enchanting. A couple of areas are under renovation, so there'll be more to look forward to next time!

A Peaceful Anzac Day at Darwin Botanical Gardens
My daughter and I had a beautiful time at the George Brown Darwin Botanical Gardens today. The gentle breeze, colorful blooms, and peaceful atmosphere made it a perfect Anzac Day outing. A lovely place to relax, reflect, and enjoy nature together. Highly recommend for families!

I am surprised that this stop was underplayed by people in town and our cruise ship. We loved it. It is more an Arboretum than a botanical garden. There aren't flower gardens, but there are a wealth of trees from Australia and Africa and the layout is excellent. You get to see a tremendous amount for the steps you take. This is something I am forced to consider with a bad back. There are plenty of spots to sit and soak in the majesty. We came early in the day when the temps and crowds are lower. People were super friendly and the dogs they bring are too. Eventhough it's not discussed, please put it on your itinerary you can see a ton in less than two hours

Lovely gardens, great free parking. Some more bins around the park would be handy.
