Located in the remote Gulf country of Queensland this venue is ideal for a family holiday, particularly if you love fishing. No need to tow a boat mine hosts Jeff and Sharon have boats available to hire for a day on the Norman River. The boat is launched for you, ice and bait supplied and on your return to the boat ramp the boat is taken out of the water for you.This is basic living but units are very clean and comfortable and have all you need for a great holiday. Centrally located at Karumba Point with plenty to do or have quiet time if you prefer. I have been staying there for the past 10 years on our annual fishing trip and have been totally spoilt - nothing is too much trouble for mine hosts who go out of their way to ensure you enjoy your stay. Never been to the Gulf ? This is a "must stay" venue reasonably priced.

Reception was OK, Cabin was very big and roomy and large ensuite. Bed was very basic and even looked uncomfortable. Location was terrific with a short walk to the Sunset pub and beach. Good cooking facilities if you planned to stay a while. We were there in winter and didn't need the air conditioner but surprised you had to pay extra to turn it on. (See picture) Overall Ok if you were looking for something basic.

Ok ok I'm a 5 star kind of lady so these were very basic. Would suit fisherman and families on a budget but for me they were just ok. |They did have all the essentials, each one had a little balcony, great air con, hot showers, comfortable bed and reasonably priced. Laundry facilities available which was great for overnight stay. A hop skip and a jump to the Sunset Tavern for a drink to watch the sun set over the Gulf of Carpentaria. Nothing flash but adequate.

What a great place to stay and recharge the batteries. Comfortable, clean with great amenities shaded area to escape the heat of the day. Within a stones throw from the waterfront and stores to purchase coffee meals and fishing gear if this is your interest.

We were lucky to get a cabin here and even though it was pretty basic it suited us o.k. Good sized room and close to he laundry. We walked to the Sunset Tavern to watch the amazing sunset was terrific. The hosts were very helpful.

We decided on a spur of the moment trip to the gulf as you do in the school holidays. All accommodation places were booked out but found gee-dees had vacancies and thought oh well it’s just for one night. Totally surprised! The cabins are basic but clean, that’s the winner for me. Everything you would need in terms of cooking facilities and space. Great water pressure. Will definitely be back.

Nice comfortable basic style cabins across the road from the sunset tavern. Very helpful accommodating owners. |Recommend for a fisherman with a boat in tow. We flew in and Geoff picked us up at the airstrip. Make sure you get a feed of prawns in Karumba
