Beautiful but small restaurant so we always get delivery or take out to enjoy in our own home. Their standard flavour is mild but tasty, which nicely suits my family and friends tastebuds. I personally love a good kick of chilli, so Spicy Curry Prawn is a must!!

Service was great and the food was amazing. We ended up coming two nights in a row. I have struggled finding good Thai food near Rouse Hill, so i was happy finding this place. The pad see ew is one of the best I've had and the massaman curry was great. The portions are very generous with reasonable pricing.

Gata Thai is a gem with a great vibe that makes it a standout spot for Thai food lovers. The Chilli Basil Stir Fried Chicken is a fiery delight, perfectly spiced and loaded with fresh basil. The Soft Shell Crab with Papaya Salad is a crisp, tangy treat, combining crunchy crab with a zesty salad. I would have preferred this with more punch honestly. The Beef Massaman Curry was rich and creamy wit oh-so tender beef that it’s a must-try. Don’t miss the Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce—juicy chicken skewers paired with a killer peanut dipping sauce. Loved the Stir Fried Chilli Basil Chicken and the Pad Thai was amazing too with generous portions. The service here is fantastic; the staff is super friendly and attentive. Plus, it’s BYO, so bring your favorite drink since they don’t serve alcohol. Overall, Gata Thai is a solid choice for a great meal in a relaxed setting.

Where to start…

Service:
Called them to book a Mother’s Day dinner, and they made themselves sound like they were booked out when I asked if we could walk in around 7:30/8 as we weren’t sure what time we’d make it in by. We got there, restaurant was very empty. Just us 5 there.
+ restaurant was in a hurry to feed us and get us out of there. This was the shortest time we’ve spent on a meal as a family, literally 30-40min only. They were also in a rush to clear out our plates
+ no mention of desserts on their menu or by the waitress, so when it came to desserts, she refused because the kitchen closed at 8:30 and we didn’t ask before.
+ the kitchen staff are extremely loud in their conversation, the ambience is really bad and at times I couldn’t even hear my family talking
+ this may be personal opinion but if I’m having dinner, I don’t want to be sitting right next to someone sweeping and mopping the floor. Ruins the vibe.

Food: not vegetarian friendly!
In a world where restaurants have more options to cater to vegetarians and vegans, and especially where I’ve been to other Thai restaurants who’ve been able to cater to my request for a structure vegetarian meal with no meat, seafood or egg inclusive of sauces, these guys did a terrible job. You could go to an Asian supermarket and find a vege “oyster” sauce and stir fry sauce easily. Whoever said gata thai was great taste and value for food was clearly lying. The pad see ew were just boiled bland salted rice noodles + boiled vegetables, not even as much as pepper or soy sauce was added to add even the slightest taste dimension. Same with the chilli basil noodles, friend rice and cashew nut stir fry. (Tip: go to Pear Thai thornleigh or Noodle hut Cherrybrook instead if you’re after taste, value, and dietary accomodation) the curry puffs and spring rolls just passed in taste, and honestly I shouldve just ordered a bunch of them and called it a night.

This was the most disappointing Thai experience I’ve ever had.

Food presented well. A little tasteless, but very colourful. The highlight for me, being a fresh chilli lover, which generally is catered to at Thai restaurants, I was most definitely disappointed. I asked for fresh chopped chill, received jarred pickled chopped chilli.

I then asked the next waitress for perhaps a whole chilli. I was told there is none. I then asked for the fresh chilli that was chopped up and placed on the barramundi, to which I was told, they don't have any. Funnily, that chilli is part of the dish. Does that mean no more servings of Barramundi?

I would not usually share such an experience, but when I saw that I got charged 0.50c for the "fresh" chilli , I decided to bring it to the attention of the till staff, Pat who shouted at me. I very jovially advised her that the chilli I got was not fresh to which Pat confirmed, "the restaurant does not have any fresh chilli."
It wasn't about being charged 0.50c, I was just chuckling over the fact that it said "fresh chilli".

That was funny, because I was charged for fresh chilli. Go figure. I wonder what else may not be fresh here... mmmm

Oh yeah... weirdly, we got hit with the bill, without the choice of wanting dessert. That was strange. Came home and had good ol' cadbury twirl. ?

I highly recommend Gata Thai! They catered for the launch of my business, 'Ellevare Cosmetics.' The cuisine was not only fresh and piping hot but also elegantly presented on trays. The staff's friendliness and exceptional service made the experience truly delightful. Thank you so much again!

When we came in, there weren’t even staff to greet us- seemed pretty empty when we came in (around 1pm). Exterior is well decorated but inside it feels a little old. Not bad, but could be improved by refurnishing. On the good side, a waitress came and gave us our menus as well as our cutlery promptly, and another brought us water a while later. The wait for food did not take long to get to the table and the staff’s manners were up to standard. I took a look at the regular menu (we ordered lunch special- 13.90 for your choice of meat and stir fry), and I believe that the entrées were overpriced for such a small portion (around $2 per piece?), and some of the meat options were $25 for a plate of meat as shown in images. Not worth it. The cushioned seats looked like they haven’t been cleaned for the past 5 years or so but the table were ok.
Mediocre restaurant.

Most uncomfortable seating in a restaurant I’ve ever dined in. The booth was like sitting on a set square. Could use the backrest to check square of roof trusses.
Food was so average it wasn’t funny.
Chicken satay skewers that came out overcooked and rubbery, and then doused in what can only be described as peanut butter mixed with the most faint of spices. I’ve had better from Aldi…
I’ve never had a sopping wet Pad Thai until tonight. Big serving but super bland.
Roti bread that must have come from a microwave, it was like eating red hot, damp mudflap.
And then the money bags that must have got the same microwave treatment.
However my mate got the grilled prawn entree and that was actually quite nice.
Overall, bland, tasteless and poor value for money in a dated, cramped interior.
