I love ❤️ love ❤️ love ❤️ the Food Connect Shed 🤩 it’s been my home away from home and the commercial kitchen for my company since February 2019. It has transitioned many times, with varying small businesses starting and ending, as well as hundreds of different people and events from all walks of life bringing their essence to the shed. Its new facade (which in turn are upcycled timber floorboards which were planed and now make the new face) is garnished with an edible native Australian garden of Myrtle’s and herbs and warrigal greens. The energy of so many volunteers, female entrepreneurs (and male hot sauce makers 😂 and of course our very own sexy chef Chris Jordan), as well as the bigger tenants like OzHarvest, bring a gushing energy and vibrancy unlike most places you go to. It’s like a social enterprise vibe, where people are doing what they think will make the world a better place, and not solely driven by profit. It’s people centred, planet centred, and is in touch with the soul of the very land it’s built on.

As a solo entrepreneur in an ever changing environment of crazy price hikes which make food and drink businesses shut down, it’s at the heart of real community and comraderie. I feel supported and seen, recognised and respected. And I have learnt so much from so many people who have offered to help for nothing, and always open for collaborations and fun 🤩 to be had.

The story of the Shed comes from real people, and if you haven’t heard it, you should definitely google it. When I’m there, I feel like I stand on the shoulders of giants who have been putting the groundwork in for almost 2 decades. This year 2 Shed tenants were nominated for the Brisbane Sustainability awards, and one won (OzHarvest), the other was highly commended. That in itself says a lot!!!

I love this place, it’s great when there are big events, but also has the quiet comfort and peace when you just want to read a book in the elder corner.

We have had 2 veggie boxes from Food Connect so far and have been really happy with them! The quality of the food is fantastic and we love the balance of the more "staple" items like onions and potatoes with more interesting veggies like the rainbow chard we had this week! It's such a fun way to cook to think up a dish based on the ingredients you have rather than buying specific things for a recipe. It's also really great that there's not too much packaging and of course it's fulfilling to know you are supporting local farmers - especially in times as tough as these.
The City Cousin program is also fantastic and works so well for us given we are both at work in the city all day. This is a key reason that the veggie boxes work for us! Keep up the great work 🙂

We used the Food Connect space for a 60th themed birthday party for around 100 people in late July 2022.
Nat was a huge help in planning and assisting us.
The location has heaps of free parking and not being in a residential area, noise was not an issue.
There is cold room storage for drinks and food and a kitchen if needed. There is also access to crockery and cutlery and glassware.
Plenty of scope for personalizing through decorations and changing the furniture layout.
Highly recommend for your party or get together.

Loving home delivery. Its like Christmas every time. Quality is unbeatable and taste blows supermarket food out of the water. I will use everything in the Basic Box - perfect for family of 4. Great staples and a one or two more exotic to help to be creative in the kitchen. Loving Food Connect. x

Beautiful venue for hosting events. Plenty of seating, clean toilets, good little bar. Can be chilly in winter so bring a coat.

I had my 60th birthday party at the Food Connect shed in March 2023. It's a unique place for a party and provides a blank canvas for however you want to set it up. We had about 65 people and used dividers to bring the space in and make it more cosy which worked really well with the theme we chose. The shed has furniture, seating, barrels etc and you can move everything around to suit. The commercial kitchen and cold room was great for preparing and storing food on the night. Rob and Emma Kate were very helpful as the party got closer in finalising details and Jeff was happy to provide advice on setting up the space. A great place if you want something a bit different to usual venues - and supporting a social enterprise!
