We wanted to celebrate our 37th Wedding Anniversary differently this year so when i came across Flames in the Forest at Port Douglas was on our actual anniversary i knew we had to book it. So so so glad we did. We were picked up promptly from our accommodation and driven to site. What a magical, mystical place they have created. From the time you step off the mini bus you are transported to a lit up oasis. Torch flames, fairy lights and candles light up the rainforest. We were immediately served sparkling wine, and a beer on arrival and tasty canapes of battered prawns, duck spring rolls and satay chicken skewers. All were excellent. Then we walked to our tables in another area under a black marquee. Fairy light balls and torch flames and fire pits awaited us. The food was 5 star. So much food none of us could eat it all. You will mot starve that is for sure. So much food on every table went back because there was ample. Noodle salad, Caesar salad kangaroo, wagyu beef, fish, chicken, plus pavlova were served. Staff were excellent. Always ensuring we had a drink in hand. The cultural show was excellent also, learning the process of playing the didgeridoo. The story telling, learning about indigenous culture and their way of living on the same land we were sitting on. The night was way above what we expected and all the reviews are spot on. This tour was so well worth the money and our anniversary night was perfect. Thank you to the staff and Gary and his brother for the most perfect night.

Hidden deep in the forest, this truly unique dining experience delivers a lifetime of memories.

Be transported to the secret location and be greeted by beauty of the fire and the lights that turn the forest into a work of art at night.

The food and atmosphere was absolutely outstanding. I really didn't know what to expect as I booked this for my partner's birthday, hoping it would be a nice dinner outing... but it was so much more than that. I absolutely LOVED every single course, it was my first time trying crocodile and that ended up being my favourite dish! The staff went above and beyond to help with everything - they brought us juice instead of alcohol, brought out food quickly and efficiently, and made the night run as smoothly as possible as I had a few problems trying to figure out where the shuttle bus was going to pick us up from our accomodation. Even though it was a long and bumpy ride all the way from Cairns, I think flames of the forest was 110% worth the price - the music was excellent and certainly a night I will remember for all time. Do it, you won't regret it! 10/10.

We were looking forward to this “Aboriginal Cultural Experience,” and the setting was beautiful, but we were sadly disappointed that the story-telling time was so brief. There was an interlude with a bit of didgeridoo playing and a very short story told at the end of the meal, all by one person, who could have used better lighting and a microphone. I was surprised, given the way this experience is described. I did not choose it for the food, but it seems that was supposed to be the focus of the night. If that is the case, the food was fine but not amazing, and the chairs were uncomfortable. I would rather have my own portion served to me than to do “family style” platters. Again, I would have hardly noticed that if there had been more than a few minutes of story telling during a 3 hour dinner. I do not think it was worth the $450 for 2 people.
