I wish we had discovered Fitzroy Island earlier. It’s so accessible from Cairns. The island is so naturally beautiful. The ease of just snorkeling off the beach and seeing magnificent marine life is amazing. We saw turtles, sharks, jellyfish, colourful fish & coral. The view from the veranda of the family villa was perfect. ||We loved all our meals at Zephyr restaurant. We will definitely be back!

The location is stunning and I would return in a heartbeat. The resort itself is a little tired and the food could improve but if you stay at the bungalows you can self cater quite a lot which is what we did and had a fantastic holiday. If you’re looking for 5 star resort holiday then this ain’t it. But if you want a comfy and relaxed stay and a truly stunning location, then Fitzroy island delivers.

Absolutely breathtaking location, the staff were doing their best but it seemed they were very understaffed so wait times were quite a lot! However the most disappointing aspect was the state of the bungalows for the price! Dirty, mouldy, sand everywhere, cupboard doors falling off, cheap, nasty curtains that don’t even cover the windows so there’s no privacy, the brackets to even hang the curtains were hanging off so it keeps falling off! The price per night is what you’d expect a 5 star resort to charge but the state of the room was 2 star at best! Also the general cleanliness of the hotel itself was disgusting! The women’s bathroom was saturated, none of the doors locked or even shut, dirty hand towels all over the floor and dirty tampons and pads on the ground! They also didn’t have any pool towels! I will never ever stay here again and won’t ever recommend this place to family or friends! I gave this feedback to the receptionist upon departure but I doubt she cares enough to do anything with it. Everyone that works there are backpackers doing their 88 days. There’s zero care factor to make this place on par with the insane prices

The island has a range of activities for a person interested in nature. All the walks/hikes had plenty of wildlife and felt like you were in a David Attenborough documentary! Snorkeling was exceptional. Even looking at the washed up coral pieces on the beach was extremely interesting for someone who enjoys marine biology.

Exceptional food in the Zephyrs Restaurant. Overall service was fantastic, however we had a very poor experience with the resort manager. Have lodged a complain with the company, so hopefully this is addressed. Property requires maintenance and the mattress in our room was pretty hard. Would be a fantastic experience if these issue are addressed.

Great experience, I don’t know why this place gets such bad reviews. The snorkelling was amazing, with some of the best marine life I have seen, turtles, reef sharks, massive angel fish, clown fish. Zephyr restaurant food was top class and a great experience. Foxys was great too. The staff are warm and welcoming. If you come here, I think the beach beach cabins are the best choice and we’re perfect for our family. The other resort rooms were up a lot of stairs. As some other reviewers say the resort could do with some maintenance in places but did not detract from our stay.

We didn’t slept in the resort, but we booked the safari snorkel experience and it was stunning! Our guide was so nice and competent. We did a beefing before hop on the boat: she explained us what we could see on the reef, all the different types of turtles, fishes and corals.

When in the water she was always with us making sure everyone was okay. She spotted a turtle and a beautiful sting ray that was hidden under a rock.

It was a beautiful experience that we highly recommend!

We love coming to Fitzroy Island as a family but the resort feels like no body loves it. Our room just needed a deep clean and maybe a handyman to sort out some of the rickety fixtures in the bathroom. Otherwise beds were comfy and we had everything else we needed.
