I am not one to complain or write reviews good or bad. However there had been several issues (within a 3-4 day period) whilst staying at Esplanade Fremantle. The second night here there was a cockroach in the bathroom. Early one morning there was drilling + sawing directly above our room. The morning after, coming back to the room there was a strong chemical smell, initially I thought this was bug spray but after a visit to the balcony saw painters directly above the room. The safe has jammed twice. The engineer took the whole thing out and eventually managed to open it and reset it. The next day it jammed again. We cannot use it now.
We spoke to reception re the bugs and construction and she assured me I would get a call later in the evening to discuss spraying the room - no phone back.
To date we have been offered two drinks vouchers and to move room tonight - we are staying in a king spa room...
Hotel affiliated parking is very expensive. $30 per day (until 12 noon, not full 24hrs), this is at the discounted rate ($50 normally) and at a car park that appears far more expensive than any others in Fremantle (albeit much closer to the hotel).
The hotel staff have been pleasant to deal with.

Unfortunately the bath room floor had long black hair left behind. Pretty clear the bath room floor was not cleaned. Other than that the towels were lovely and soft and the bed was very comfy. Staff were nice and when I informed them about the hair they were very apologetic and offered free drink cards, which was a nice gesture. It’s a great location with everything you need walking distance. We had dinner there the fish was beautiful fresh and tasty.

The rooms were nice and clean, nice balcony for some fresh air! The bathtub was nice and big, beds were soooo comfortable and the pillows were nice and soft. The staff were so kind and accommodating and the breakfast was amazing. Will 100% be back. Thank you so much❤️

Booked a stay here from (16-06-2025 to 21-06-2025). ||CONS :||- Front desk staff did not advise us about the renovation on our floor and just checked us in. The smell of paint was bad each time we walked through the aisle to go out. Lots of knocking noise too.|- Hotel does not have parking lots and advised us to park at a third party parking spots just across the street for AUD30 per day. But noticed that the shutters at the entrance would be closed after 10.00pm|- Room service was 2/10. Staff just tucked in the same bedsheet and never bothered changing them. Was there for 5 nights with the same bedsheet. Toilets were still dirty. Terrible housekeeping |- Booking was made with breakfast included. Had to check out early on the last day due to a very early morning flight. Advised the day before to the front desk staff I require earlier breakfast to which she said she would get back to me. The next day when I was checking out I told the staff Meana that I wanted my breakfast to which she said she was no aware of it as no info was passed to her. It made me angry as I’m checking out ar 1.15am and my family had elderly people who requires breakfast. She wanted to offer me the late night menu option as a replacement but I refused it as it would consume time and I needed to catch a flight. I asked her if I could refund the breakfast amount paid and she said cannot because I booked from external travel agency. But payment was made to the hotel and not the travel agency. I felt cheated as I spent for the breakfast and was not given. |- Drinking water not provided in the rooms and we would need to pay AUD5 per bottle if we used the water provided |- Breakfast and the same menu everyday and tend to get bored after the second day||PROS ||- Location of the hotel was good and just walking distance from the restaurants and shopping area. Also walking distance to the Fremantle market.

We recently stayed at the Esplanade Hotel by Rydges in Fremantle. The hotel’s central location was convenient, and the buffet breakfast was delicious. The staff provided excellent face-to-face customer service, which we appreciated.

However, several issues affected our stay. The television in our room turned off every two minutes, making it unusable. The shower area had significant black mould, and there was a leak in the ceiling near the air conditioner. Additionally, after using the guest laundry facilities for two loads, our clothes were not clean.

We reported these concerns during our stay. The staff acknowledged them, attributing the problems to recent changes in ownership and issues with external service providers. As a goodwill gesture, we were offered complimentary drinks and waived our minibar use (2 cans of soft drink).

Unfortunately, after our departure, we were charged for the drinks that were meant to compensate for the inconveniences we experienced. This oversight was disappointing and detracted from the otherwise positive aspects of our stay.

I hope the hotel addresses these issues promptly to improve the experience for future guests.

Gabriel gave us great service great local advice and extremely helpful and friendly.
Our room is beautiful and our view is fantastic.

Rooms are very much standard hotel style rooms and overall fairly clean. We originally got put in a ground floor room close to the atrium and kept getting woken up throughout the night by people in the corridor. However, the staff kindly moved us to a room upstairs which was much quieter.

One of our best stay on this trip to the Western Australia. Room was clean and spacious. We also enjoyed a drink on our 1st night as we chill our evening away before heading back to our hotel room. Love the vibe there!
