Me and my partner thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this resort! Our beds were extremely comfy, the rooms were spotless and the shower was huge! Also, because it was my birthday and I had been travelling all day the owner Paul opened the bar for me and gave me a free bottle of champagne. I have never been treated so well as a guest and will definitely be returning!

Incredibly clean and well presented room for the price - plus a comfortable bed too! I’m extremely fussy with hygiene as well so I was pleasantly surprised. I was also impressed with the little homely decor additions to the room, a nice touch. Super friendly staff, the manager (can’t remember his name sorry!) went above and beyond for us to make sure we were comfortable and I observed him very patiently and respectfully training a new staff member who was checking us in. Well done guys, very happy with our stay.

Our room with ensuite, was comfortable and spacious. Yes the place is tired but hey fantastic value for the price. There is a good sized pool. Don't expect all the trimmings, like hair dryers, shampoos etc and bring your own tea and coffee etc. There is a bar fridge in the room. |Premises has an open style kitchen but we didn't use it, choosing to eat out instead.

We booked a package which included both the hostel stay and transfers to Great Keppel Island. The Island was stunning and had a "Fiji" feel, I’m amazed not more people are talking about this but it was so good to almost be the only ones on the island. We spent the day hiking, snorkelling with turtles and enjoying the incredible beaches. The guys at the hostel gave us loads of great recommendations of cool places on the island to check out.||||The hostel itself has more of a hotel than a hostel feel and it was lovely to have single beds rather than bunks in the room! Very clean and has a great swimming pool and bar. Pauli (owner) and the team were amazing hosts and were there to answer any questions and made us feel at home. Would definitely recommend checking out this hidden gem! Thank you for a great stay 🙂

When I phoned the owner to ask if the kitchen is fully equipped, he said yes. The kitchen was a disgrace. There was only 6 coffee mugs and 3 tablespoons for guest of 10+ private rooms and a dorm. There was no tin opener and when I phoned the owner twice (which is suppose to be the emergency number as well) the Saturday evening, he didn't' answer or phoned back. Other guest just said there is no tin opener. Fortunately there was a restaurant opposite the street, so I took my kids there for supper, but ended up costing me $60 for a meal instead of $8. The tap in the kitchen sprayed all over, the stove was dirty. There were cockroaches in the kitchen and our bathroom. And an old piece of bread still left in our room and dirty pillow cases. But I can take all of this. What I can not take was the absolute rudeness of the owner. I forgot something at the resort and he was so disrespectful, rude and unwilling to help me. Compared to other places I've stayed before (and I stayed at a lot!), this guy's resort has so much potential, but his customer service is a disgrace and I would much rather stay again at the Beach hostel in Yeppoon. Next time I'll pay $15 more, and at least I would have a better experience somewhere else.

This place is definitely not as advertised clean friendly beach resort. Kitchen area and common rooms were filthy dirty. Dishes left in sink unwashed God knows for how long. Cans and bottles left everywhere. Bathrooms and Laundry need a real good scrubbing. The place just needs a very good clean up inside and out. Aircon in our room didn't work.||I would advise to stay away from this one.

Had an amazing stay at Emus beach resort! Best sleep I’ve had so far up the East Coast as the beds are incredibly comfy! All the other facilities are class too, the bar is great fun and all the staff were so lovely! Always wanted to go to Great Keppel Island so it was perfect to stay at Emus because they brought me to the ferry and picked me up after my day trip! It’s a perfect getaway, 10/10 would recommend!

I looked at this hostels trip advisor page to see if others had commented on the owner being the only let down of this hostel. It seems many others agree. ||He is rude and obnoxious to guests, and very disrespectful to his staff, such as slamming his glass down and just saying “another” to the girl behind the bar.||Shame because it’s good value with ok bedrooms and bathrooms, nice pool area etc. ||He’s just a real piece of work and should sort out his attitude.|||
