Nice and quiet. Worth a stop if going to Ross River Homestead. Otherwise the gorges in the west Macdonnell Range are more picturesque. The Aboriginal art on the rocks is sacred and they ask you not to photograph that.

Picturesque, peaceful and just plain beautiful. Emily and Jessie Gaps are places where you can just relax with nature's wonders.

This park is formed of the 'two gaps' which are linked by a walking trail.

The trail takes about 1 hour one way but the problem is your car will be left behind so you need to walk back unless you have other arrangements.

Place is stunning as all parks seen to be in Australia. So much scenery to take on and not enough time. There is a toilet at each of the gap car parks but best only used if you are desperate.

If not walking the long trail you can drive to both gaps see them in about 15mins at each one.

Well worth the drive but more so if you combine it with other trips such as Ellery Creek, etc.

Don't need a 4x4 to go here as sealed roads all the way in.

Beautiful place, very serene. Sacred site with rock art paintings visible at both sites. Budgies breeding in trees in April.

Cons: Young idiots illegally riding through with motorbikes, ignoring signs.

Emilygap is decent to look at, but Jessie is not really worth the trip, I was more impressed by the myriad of burnouts in front of both turnouts for both. You are not supposed to take pictures past a certain point for both but it not very easy to see on signs so be aware. Super short walks, again Jesse only had 1 painting which is very similar to Emily gap painting so you can skip probably. I like the western side of the range much better than the Eastern side. Now might be different of you 4wd out farther but as I was not equipped for the excursion I did not attempt it. The picture below is the only one I snapped before the zone at Jessie. Sand creek bed to walk on at both locations.

Emily Gap was so serene. Lovely to just sit there and take it all in. Respect the wishes of the indigenous people and don't take photos. It is a sacred place. Enjoy!

Great MTB track from Undoolya Rd to Emily's Gap. A bit harder of a ride from Dessert Springs/Sadadeen. Well preserved Aboriginal art in the gap, but lots of flies!
