It would have been nice to have known there would be building works happening (drilling etc) in the complex. Came here for a bit of R&R with the kids.The bedrooms were not very clean, carpets dirty with stains. Very dusty, lots of sneezing happening at bedtime, dust ++ in the bedrooms.There were cockroaches crawling up the walls, mostly came out at night.

Management was extremely accommodating when additional units were required at short notice. Units were clean, comfortable and central to everything we needed to enjoy 10 days in the city. The complex is secure and quiet. Other guests and permanent residents were very cordial. The pools were clean and having a choice between two meant that one was always available. Car parking was available in the secured assigned area of the car park with plenty of additional parking surrounding the complex. Will stay again.

The manager of the property is friendly and welcoming. The apartment is spacious. However, I have to say the apartment is bit of disappointing. I understand the weather during the time is humid and wet due to raining. But there is cockroaches in the bedroom and ants on the bed. So maybe need to do some pest control before opening to guest? Also the room is not bright and is bit dark all the time. Moreover the bed sheets is bit of dirty as well. Toilet is clean which not an issue, but it is bit old and wardrobe is old as some places is broken need to upgrade or fix. Usually because we have kids, even it is not 5 star hotel or anything but at least I think clean and tidy is the very important thing for the accommodation. It is also bit of misleading on the advertisement because overall I do not think it should count as 4 star apartment OR it needs to put the correct photos for which room is related to. Also, this is not the walking distance to the city central and you need to have a car for more convenience otherwise you need to take taxi or other transport; so please be aware of.

||Address: 331-337 Lake St, Cairns City QLD 4870|Phone: (07) 4041 6605||If you are unfortunate enough to be allocated this unit there are things you should be advised||The Edge Apartments Cairns is situated in Cairns only 220 yards from the Northen end of the Esplanade and the Coral Sea. |It has 2 outdoor pools and spacious air-conditioned apartments. |||COMMENT|In June 2023|We found our apartment 205 for 10 days to NOTt to be of 4star standard at all.||PRO: The bedlinen and bathroom towels were very clean and of good quality.|The air conditioning worked.|The ceiling fans worked. The apartment was spacious.|The fridge worked but bottom of door shelving missing. Inconvenient if you wanted to store water bottles etc.||CONS:||” Each unit at the Edge has a flat-screen TV”., which was NOT working and had to be re-connected by guest.||“Free Wi-Fi” NOT available in unit 205 – we were informed by office unless you wanted to stand outside of office area to connect.||Apartment was dark, - lighting in all rooms inadequate and woefully dim and outdated.|Lighting in laundry area was badly positioned – and here there were no instructions on how machine worked.||*Vertical Blinds in poor state and need maintenance or replacement.||*All doors (screen and glass sliding) need maintenance to run smoothly.||*The furniture was inappropriate (apart from 2 leather sofas) and badly arranged.||*The ambience was noisy.|The decor throughout the apartment – wasn’t.!! |Except 2 pictures hung almost at ceiling. – 1 small mirror in dark hallway., and a wall clock. (All 15 years or more in age) |*No rugs or furnishings to soften the décor or the echo sounding throughout the apartment.|*Coffee table in bad state.||*Dining table satisfactory but serviced by 2 different types of chairs.||*The bathroom needed maintenance/upgrade (and pictures I have taken show much damage to outer base of shower, mould along the wall.)||*The kitchens come equipped with very basic essentials.|A microwave and dishwasher., utensils for cooking on very old worn stove.|| “Some units have balconies with sea or mountain views”, |others, like ours, at 205 had overgrown foliage with NO views.||The Edge Apartments Cairns has an outdoor entertainment area with barbecue facilities and free on-site private parking.||*The Rain forestation Nature Park is 11 miles from The Edge Apartments. Kuranda Scenic Railway and Skyrail Rainforest Cableway are only a 10-minute drive away.|

Absolutely appalling for the amount charged. First off the management was no where near what was expected; took over 24 hours for a couple of extra towels, randoms that weren’t residents skinny dipping in the pools & using leisure facilities with no repercussions from the caretaker. Main air conditioner in living room was mouldy, both showers had plumbing issues with hot water so most the stay was cold showers. The master bedroom toilet leaked, tiles were not flush on floor so a few stubbed toes was a reoccurring problem, and the single beds in the 2nd bedroom were the most uncomfortable beds to sleep on. Next, the stove took over 30 minutes to heat up and the dishwasher would only turn on once in a blue moon if you were lucky. That sums up my stay at edge apartments, I am absolutely disgusted and they will never be getting our business again.

We booked the 3 bedroom penthouse. It was not as per the photos. Big unit with a nice view but not penthouse quality. The mattresses were awful, no mattress protectors on some beds, thin blankets. Dirty outdoor area, filthy fans, lots of ants and cockroaches. Broken soap dishes, towel rails and toilet roll holder. The garage opener had to be repaired, then replaced and still did not work properly so we resorted to parking on the street. We had an industrial sized no frills shampoo and body wash provided. No individual soap or nice things as per the photos or as you might expect in a penthouse. One towel each and no face washer. The white leather couch was filthy and the outdoor wicker furniture was worn and breaking in places. It was an ok unit but definitely nothing special and nothing like the photos on the official website. I feel it was overpriced for what we got.||Finally, there was a lot of aircraft noise in the apartment we stayed in. No noise from the backpackers next door.

The website adverts with luxurious apartments, this is definitely not the case for the apartment we had. The rooms need an update, the carpets in the bedrooms have lots of stains, the madrasses are stained, with only sheets to cover it. |This is not luxurious at all. |There is no wifi, you only have access i the lobby, sitting on the floor, so you better prepare for that. |One should know that this is not for holiday stays only, the guys above us got up early every morning in the middle of the week and it will definitely end your sleep. There is no isolation, you can hear everything. Its more a place for longterm rent than holidays, unless you are an early bird. ||The location was fine, close to the Esplanade, close to airport to catch an early plane. Convenient with free parking and close to attractions with the car. ||The kids enjoyed the swimmingpool, it was not really big, but not very busy so that worked well. ||The manager Greg i friendly and has great tips, what to do. |
