The location is great! It is a short walk into the main city part with all of the shops, there is a supermarket really close by, and the train station is very close too. The staff were really friendly and listened to all of our needs. The room exceeded our expectations, the photos they have posted made it look outdated, but the bedding is much more modern and the room itself is bigger than I expected. The only downsides are that the showers are not the cleanest, and it does get very noisy at night with cars and people going by. Overall we had a very good experience, very good value for money, and we would come and stay here again.

This pub is great for evening dining. I have nothing negative to say about my experience. On a Monday they have 25% off on steaks and they're just amazing for the price, for under $35 for a sirloin and a beer you cannot go wrong. The portions are extremely generous in my opinion plus it was served exactly how I asked.

East Sydney Hotel

An absolute gem of a corner pub! The East Sydney has always rejected the notion of pokies to bolster the bottom line, and we've always LOVED that about this pub. We went on a Sunday - they served up a decent pork roast, with a sensational soundtrack provided by a jazz quartet. Perfect. The staff behind the bar are super friendly, up for some banter and a laugh, and that's exactly what you want in a pub. With hospitality generally becoming more and more corporate, it's so good to still be able to set foot in an old school, no fuss, but very welcoming, corner pub. We love The East Sydney and we'll be back for more of that Sunday afternoon jazz, and a roast, really soon!

Charming old style pub close to all amenities.
Very affordable for location.
Pleasantly surprised by the singular bathrooms.
Shower was hot and great water pressure.
Room was clean with an old world charm.
The best older pub I've stayed in and I've stayed in many in my travels around Australia.
Staff are friendly. Management very accommodating as I needed to leave my luggage after getting off the plane and before checking in early arvo.

The owner and the workers there are always kind and ready to help travelers staying there. It is within 10 min walking distance from Hyde park. And it has a very quiet neighborhood. I will definitely come back in my next visit to Sydney.

Me and my fam stayed here for 4 nights, so im just gonna leave an honest review here 🙂 the staffs were friendly, one of them (didn't know his name) brought us up to the third level where our room should be, gave a brief introduction about the place and stores nearby, and gave number for taxi. Another staff offered to help carry our luggages too on our check-out day. The room was nice, but there's this weird odor (smells like mold) engulfing our room that we had to leave the windows open during the day. Toilet was phenomenal with shampoos and body soap provided, the essential oils delivered a great smell too. It might be better to install lights for the staircase to the third level since it's too dark to climb at night, creeps me out when i know i can't see whoever comes up😬overall its a 8/10 for me, recommended for whoever's searching for a comfy and historical place to stay at sydney. Awesome old school pub, walking distance to private hospital, parking facilities and the city highlights. ( Bridge, opera house, st Mary's, martin place). Fellow country folks will feel at home.

Nice owner & pub downstair, sharing toilet & living room, no problem. Road side with traffic noise if u dont mind. Vy authentic Sydney house stay. Stay in 3rd floor corner room w 2 queen bed, recommended for budget stay if u have 4p.
