We had a fantastic visit to Discovery Park in Townsville, and I can't recommend it enough! From the moment we arrived, the friendly and welcoming staff made us feel welcomed. Their enthusiasm and helpfulness truly set the tone for our day.

The highlight for our kids was definitely the swimming pool and slides! The kids couldn't get enough of the fun water features, and it was wonderful to see them laughing and splashing around. The pools were well maintained and offered the perfect mix of relaxation and excitement.

We appreciated the family-friendly environment, with plenty of shaded areas and seating for parents to relax while keeping an eye on the little ones. The park also had various other activities and amenities that kept everyone entertained throughout the day.

Overall, our experience at Discovery Park Townsville was memorable and enjoyable. It’s a perfect destination for families looking for a fun day out. We can't wait to return for another adventure!

We have been travelling around Australia for the last 2 months and on the whole so far all caravan parks we have stayed at have been bloody great UNTIL we got to Discovery Park Wulguru Townsville.
This park was absolutely disgusting and dirty from the start with the bins full of maggots and overflowing everywhere, lawns not mowed and worst of all days in a row toilets both male & female not clean with no toilet paper or seats broken, then out the front of the toilets dirty linen spilling onto the road with more garbage spilling out of bins for days. We went to have a bbq and although it’s the camper’s responsibility to keep them clean they were absolutely putrid.
I know it’s been raining but that’s no excuse for filth… Even the pool being locked at 4.30pm was a let down and when hubby finally went for a swim the pool floor was covered in black mould!!!
Sadly we would not recommend this caravan park to anyone!!!

I tried to find opening hours on the website and wasn't successful. One booking website suggested they take check-ins to 8pm, but just on 7 they were closed. Need a big note on the door if this is unusual, or even something with the real hours clearly somewhere so I wouldn't have tried and been disappointed, I actually was after a place to park the car, sleep inside and have a shower in the morning. Easy money. I found a freebie shower further south.

The shower leaked and flooded The bathroom within seconds. It flooded into the kitchen. Had to use our dirty laundry of ours to soak it up alongside all the towels that were in the room. Called after hours for more towels to soak it up. Could not shower 2/3 nights we stayed. After hours staff member was rude, tried to explain it was night time and our kids were in bed. We were desperate for a shower and wanted to try be quick but it wasn't worth it. Within seconds it flooded that bathroom into the cabin. They acted like they weren't aware but behind the door and on the edge of the wall is an water damage and breaking away. They've siliconed it in hopes to figure out a cause.

Extending on this. The Wall in the main bedroom on the right down the bottom in the middle of you push on it. It actually is damaged from water and is coming away from the architraves and is perishing.

The bathroom was really disgusting. The toilet was dirty and had poo marks on the bowl and the seat was still had marks all over it. I purchased some cleaner from Coles as no way would my kids or ourselves just use that. Dust all over the architraves and public hair throughout the bathroom. Walls were disgustingly stained with splat marks all over it.

Bugs in the kettle, and moths in one of the one of our kids room. Ended up borrowing a cot from a friend who resides in Townsville to be safe. The bed base is supported by cardboard! Avoid cabin 33. Though the neighbour said the bathroom/ cabin was pretty bad too!

Would go back for the amenities, outside the cabin is beautiful and clean. Bathrooms at the pool area are spotless, the pool area is beautiful, pool is very well maintained- staff are there throughout the day, jumping pillow was a hit along with the park area.

I can't respond to your reply for some reason but here is a screen shot of declining your offer to upgrade as we wanted the cabin we booked.

A colleague and I rolled in for 5 nights, each having a cabin. We were tired from working a 12-hour day but attempted to settle in and get some rest for the early start the following morning. Unfortunately, in my unit, the TV wasn't working, nor was the AC in the bedroom. As a result, I reached reception after hours and was a fellow (first week on the job) turned up fairly promptly and was unable to fix the issues. He was able to move me a short time later to the cabin next door, making sure the AC and TV were functioning. This fellow was very apologetic and polite at all times. I feel the accommodation is needing some TLC to bring it back to life. The vanity globe was also missing. The hand rail leading up to stairs quite fragile.
Needs more maintenance and a freshen up!

We arrived Tuesday to stay in one of their “new” cabins. When first walking into this new cabin I immediately noticed how disgusting the walls were & that the cot we had requested wasn’t provided (was rectified though) but I had to clean a lot of spots on the walls before we could bring our stuff in. Then I noticed everything was dirty. The skirting boards, the floor, everything had hair & dust on it. The tap was broken & not secured. The blind in the main bedroom was missing its pull chain so we couldn’t open or close it. Underneath the couch was filthy with other people’s rubbish under it. The fridge wasn’t clean & contained bits of mould. The shower was what shocked me the most though! The mould, grime & green/yellow much was foul! Every time water hit it little pieces would break off into the shower water which was gross! This was all built up around the bottom of the shower frame along with dirty tiling in the shower & some form of animal poo on the window sills. The carpets are stained & very clearly dirty. Cushions on the couch had stains on them. There is a wall shelf under the tv which is very unstable so for children it’s dangerous as it’s at their height, actually lower & not safe. The little toilet room floor was very dirty behind the toilet bowl & the toilet bowl itself was filthy! There were ants when we arrived so I bug sprayed but they were back the next day & we hadn’t left any food out! The handle in the bathroom to wind the window out was shattered. There is absolutely no privacy or protection from the morning sun. It’s on an extremely busy main road so very loud at all times. There was also road works going on the entire time we were there. The little blue slide in the kids pool area bruised my kids something bad because of it’s poor design, risen parts that hit you & how steep it is also is quite dangerous in that depth of water. Both my children played at the water park the first 2 days & then got sick with Gastro - they had not left the park the entire time. The design of the pebbled pool makes for very easy stubbing of toes & ripping of skin. The signal out there is terrible & the parks wifi doesn’t even allow you to use Netflix ect even though they are smart TV’s. We did like the HDMI inputs in the wall! There are sliding doors in the bedrooms but no mirrored ones which you would certainly expect for the price. We paid $781 for 3 nights during the week. We certainly won’t be staying again for the simple fact even their new cabins are in terrible shape maintenance wise & cleanliness wise & the price just cannot be justified. I am a Google Guide & stay many many places - it’s not often I say “we won’t be back” & can’t find at least 3 positives but unfortunately this is one of those times. The reception ladies were lovely, I will say that! Upon arrival we were told several times to make sure we do not leave anything outside & to make sure we lock our doors… so I’d say crime is also an issue as we have only heard this once before - in Halls Creek, WA. Yes all places advise you to do those things anyway but this was stressed to us so one can only assume crime is bad.
