DeVere Hotel - Potts Point, New South Wales

This was the second time I've stayed there & both times the room was spacious & although no balcony there were openable windows for fresh air. The location is close to supermarkets, lots of diners, & the Saturday markets by the El Amien fountain. I stayed there as it was an easy walk to the hospital to visit a loved one.|Day & night staff were friendly & helpful. I was distressed the first night there as my loved one was very ill & the night staff, Claire's attentive attentive & considerate guest service is deeply appreciated. I feel at home & sentimental in that location, in the beautiful large-tree lined Macleay St.

I loved the care of the staff, but I am highly disappointed by the quality of the hotel. I was very happy when they let me into my room at 8am in the morning. THANK YOU. I really appreciated that kind gesture. When I had a mosquito infestation in my room they moved me immediately, THANK YOU! The front desk lady even gave me a strong anti histamine for my mosquito bites. The hotel is totally outdated, the room are in desperate need for upgrades. The electrical setup is scary. The prices don’t reflect the quality of the place. But I loved the staff! I know Sydney is one of the worst values for hotels and this place is not exception. The location is great. I really liked the location.

The good: location. Right across from a Woolies and relatively easy to get to the train station and bus stops from which to explore the city. A lot of cafes and restaurants in the area. The lady who worked on the evening/night shift was very lovely and always helpful when I needed something. Individual AC in the rooms was good and it was nice to be able to open the windows too.|The bad: The hotel has a bad moth problem (some kind of carpet moth?); they’re not too bad during the day but there are tons of them in the room at night. The bathroom was not cleaned properly before I checked in (there was hair in the bathtub when I got there) and I noticed that there was mould under the toilet cistern. Soundproofing was awful and I didn’t sleep well during my stay because the door for the room next to me would slam noisily whenever the occupant came or went, which woke me up multiple times while I was sleeping. There were also gaps between the window and window frame in the bathroom. I had expected the decor to be “dated” based on other reviews, which is not something I personally care about, but it went beyond dated to extremely run-down. The photos on the website make the hotel seem nicer than it is.

5 ? rating based on value for money. Amuses me to read poor reviews from people who obviously expect 5 ? while paying for 3. Friendly staff - on duty 24 hours. Clean, quiet room, comfy bed. Great, handy location.

If you want to be massacred by bed bugs then stay at the DeVere Hotel Potts Point. The duty manager initially said there were bed bugs active because they were fumigating. Then he said they had never had an issue with bed bugs. Then he said that when they have had bed bugs in the past it is because the guest brought them with them. I was certainly not carrying beds bugs when I arrived. Duty manager reluctantly refunded the night paid for, of which I appreciated, however, two days later we remain covered in itchy and unsightly bites.

Clean yet out dated hotel rooms, beds were hard to sleep on (very stiff and springy), not much noise barrier between rooms, a few things were worn and heavily used. Great staff and easy service. Good location on the east side of Sydney.

Great location. 5 minutes to kings cross station. Excellent supermarket 50 metres down road.

Yep, it's a 3 - 3 1/2 start property. Must be best value for money in Sydney. Solid building. Was very quiet. I was in an internal room but with windows.

Double room was large, food prep area. Not suitable for cooking but microwave and kettle.

Very bad condition of the room, uncomfortable bed, destroyed mirror in the bathroom, extremely bad view out of the window. Everything seemed dirty and old. Being a 3 star hotel doesn't mean its allowed to be in such condition. Cleaning and the good condition of the room should be clear.
