We had a second visit today to see if there was an improvement in things at Depot but unfortunately we were disappointed. The tall tiled tables need a good scrub, the grout is grubby, coffee stain rings on the dull and dirty tiles and the little girl (maybe 10-11?) tasked with clearing tables didn’t wipe them, food debris was left on them and on the floor under the tables which could’ve been given a quick sweep but they also need a good scrub. Even the menu card had dried food and grubby prints on it. On the upside the coffee was ok.

This place used to have the best coffee in town and was the top spot to have lunch overlooking the River. Unfortunately due to new owners/management it's gone to hell in a hand basket. The old staff were great, fast, and professional. You didn't need to train new staff, something a bunch of people have already complained about. You brought this failure on yourself.

Edit: My initial review was a bit harsh as I was annoyed with my recent experience. Stars adjusted to reflect this. Apologies.

Usually the cafe is okay, the coffee is burnt but drinkable and the food is substandard but you go to enjoy the view of the river. Today when I went, I ordered for my mother and I, when my aunt arrived ten minutes later to join us she was refused service (she only wanted a coffee) because it was “too busy” (this was at 10:20 AM) and so my aunt was expected to just watch us eat and drink. The poor girl on the register was expected to convey this unprofessional message on her first day while the barista refused service.
So unprofessional, so sorry to the girl on the register who probably had the worst first shift of her life. Everyone was cranky, they will have lost several customers.

Edit:
The response I was given was super disappointing. Sorry if it wasn’t her first shift, I am more than okay with people I training which is why I empathised with her in my review. It’s poor business to insinuate that I should have been okay with a super poor experience because of training (also, either they’ve done several shifts with you or their training and need to be given some slack, not both.) My issue was with the refusal of service (which everyone was upset about, I actually had a conversation with another woman at a different cafe after we were refused service who was also very displeased by this, several people were refused service when the rest of their party had already ordered.) Perhaps a manager should have been on to give these poor young girls some direction. Of course people have to train, that isn’t my issue. My issue is that they were seemingly thrown to the wolves and were all very stressed because of the situation they’d been put in. Your response should have been, I’m sorry for your experience, no one likes a defensive review. I don’t want you to berate your barista unless they were the manager but they were young, it just seems as though you put a bunch of inexperienced people and trainees on a busy day with no managerial support which led to this situation. Disappointing service with an even more disappointing response.

They always get the orders wrong, coffees are hit and miss, I have a coupon for a free coffee and I haven't even used it yet because the last few visits have been so disappointing... a flat white instead of a cappuccino I mean seriously

This is a great cafe to have a snack with friends. The atmosphere is great with large ceilings and wide spaces for people to sit in. With comfy chairs and a view of the river, this is probably one of the best locations yet. I had a Depot burger which came with a large serving (probably for 2 people) and chips for a reasonable price. In my opinion I had only wished the chips were thick cut.. otherwise a great cafe! Would highly recommend

Really great breakfast and good, strong coffee. Ordered bacon and eggs on toast. Eggs were fluffy and bacon was cooked just right. Coffee had a good strong taste to it. Would recommend this place! It’s located inside the mall.
