Be careful when booking here! Photos are not what you get! I booked with Darwin resort for two nights. Left after the first night. On arrival i went to the lock box and was given a room, number. The reception staff member came out and asked what I was doing, I said I was just getting my room key. I was asked to give them the key, and I was provided a room key for the rooma at the front of the premises which is the older back packer rooms. Was not told that there would be stairs, which were narrow and very slippery. The amount of noise from the antisocial behaviour from the highway and bus stop. I didn't get any sleep. Checked out the very next day!!!

The place looked like something from the eastern block with metal grids at the windows.
Reception was closed when I got there. Had no reception on phone therefore unable to ring assistance numbers. Stood around for 40 minutes before another guest rang the numbers for me, getting through to an answer phone.
Another 3 guests turned up also unable to access rooms. One guy did get through to someone and then passed his phone to each of us so we could get our access codes.
The whole place looks tired and run down. The bedroom furniture cheap looking. The TV didn't work. Couldn't open the blinds. There was a vending machine with snacks but nowhere to get a proper meal after travelling for the best part of two days.
The place is close to the airport and the highway so very noisy especially from early morning.
There Wi-Fi code wasn't in the room.
On the plus side, the sheets and towels were clean and the shower was hot. There was a fridge in the room and tea and coffee. The guy on reception the following morning was friendly and polite.
Pleased I was only spending one night there.

Absolutely disgraceful after hours check-in process. Office closes at 3pm, with nil advice on booking this occurs (especially this early!). Phone number on door for late check-in, led to being give multiple incorrect codes for the lock box. Finally received an email telling one to download an app, verify email to receive digital room key. (Lucky we're tech savvy enough). All in all, took almost an hour to get a room key via the digital app!||Lighting on the walk to the rooms is terrible, considering you are dragging luggage.||Rooms, nicely renovated. Maybe one of the best showers I've ever had in any accommodation, so a nice plus there. Colleague's said the bed felt old, springs were pushing through. And to top it off, my TV was without remote, and unable to search channels easily manually as the buttons were not functioning. Only able to move through a couple of channels, all DTV and little to no signal.

it would have been 4 stars but we are giving it 1 because of 3 things After hour checking was terrible. They gave the wrong code and it didn't release the key and they wanted us to download some app that needs facial recognition. fiddling around for 45mins in the heat.

Secondly our room had 8 knives and no forks , no one came to add the forks . Furthermore We stayed 8 nights and they only came to clean 1 time on the 3 day.

there were tiny roaches around, and if food was left out, little ants were crawling over it within 2 to 3 hours

Staff seem to didn't really care. Just left it to the next shift to handle and nothing gets solved.

This place should be renamed "Darwin Last Resort Hotel". We booked a room last minute as we needed to extend our stay and did not want to spend 12 hours hanging around the airport with our suitcases. The lovely hotel we were staying in was fully booked. We wouldn't have booked or paid anything at The Darwin Resort had we know just how substandard the entire place would be. The only positive was that the air conditioner worked. We figured we could just kill some time sitting on the bed watching TV (with shoes on as the floor didn't seem clean enough to take our shoes off) but the TV didn't work. A shower maybe to freshen up before our flight? No way - we didn't want to risk catching some sort of disease or infection from the shower stall. The sign in the room asking guests to wash their own dishes to avoid a $20 cleaning fee was laughable - there was nowhere clean or large enough to actually wash anything, and there was no washing liquid. There was no way we were going to use any of the crockery or cutlery knowing it may have been washed by a previous guest in the filthy hand sink or shower stall in the bathroom with no soap! Given the state of the rest of the room, it was clear the hotel staff also couldn't be trusted to wash dishes to an acceptable standard. There was a large pile of dirty sheets left on the balcony near our room after staff had serviced them. It was also very noisy (ok, near an airport, but the gaps in doors etc made it far worse), and given the unhygienic state of the room, there was no way we would even go near the gym or pool. We ended up leaving and going to the airport anyway as it was too dirty to even feel comfortable touching or using any of the facilities. Sadly, reception closes at 5 (weird in a city in which most flights leave and arrive after midnight), so we couldn't provide the feedback or request a refund in person. We will be emailing. See photos below which show suspicious white stain on the bed spread, ant infestation, mould, dirt, and general disrepair. This place needs not only a serious renovation, but also a close inspection by the health department. It's actually a health risk to guests. Don't waste your money. If you need a cheaper place to stay, you'd be better off in a tent, swag, or caravan in a holiday park.

Photos on the website do not reflect reality. Broken blinds, smelly blanket, open waste in kitchen sink, 1 power point in whole room and massive gap under door. Compare this to the facilities description and you’ll think you’re at the wrong address !

Read reviews prior to booking seemed ok. Arrived and couldn't get in the room. Rang after-hours no. they were very responsive and came around, apparently the door needs a good shoulder charge to open it. The bed was awful, we felt every spring, really needs to be replaced or even a pillow top might help. The room was clean (except the euro pillow was a bit smelly maybe the pillow case on these need changing too) and newly and nicely renovated. The shower was excellent but there is no door between bathroom and bedroom, lacks privacy. A lot of noise from the airport and also the hwy so be mindful of that when booking. For a superior queen room at $125 that served lack of sleep, we would never stay here again.
