Felt like a steak for Sunday night dinner. For a pub there was only one option which was surprising but it was Sunday night. 300g Sirloin with chips and salad. The salad was nothing special but fresh. Chips were how I like them, crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. The steak was interesting. A little dry in spots, but not bad. Possibly my fault as I like steaks medium and this was a low fat steak. I like fat on a steak and the parts that had some fat were perfect. Cooked perfectly for a medium steak and beautifully seared on the outside with a nice flame grill. Don't let me sound like I am complaining. If I could cook a steak like this I would be more than happy and so much better than many steaks I have had recently.
As for the two young ladies who looked after me I hope the pub looks after them. Excellent service. Polite, attentive and first class.
Give the pub a go. Excellent value for money and overall a great experience.

Lunch with my partner. First time, we recently had lunch here in Newcastle and unfortunately, it was quite disappointing. We ordered a beef burger and calamari, but both dishes were far from satisfying. The beef burger was extremely dry, and the calamari was not only dry but also very oily. We were already hungry when we arrived, and to make matters worse, we waited 35 minutes for our food. When we finally checked on our order, only one burger had arrived, and we had to wait even longer for the second dish. The kitchen seemed disorganized, as I noticed other patrons also checking on their food status. The service was poor, with long waits and little attention to detail. Sadly, this experience has left us with no desire to return for lunch.

We found this gem by accident during our visit from Alaska! Apparently they have a new chef and new menu! Our steak was perfection and the watermelon salad was exceptional. Our compliments to the Chef! And thank you Grace. Lovely dining experience !!

Awesome atmosphere, filled with local history friendly service. Good food drinks try the cheese & wine. Custom House heritage listed is filled with historic photographs and information, has a comfortable elegant dining area, with more room upstairs. High ceilings, Italian interior design it’s gorgeous for romantic dinner or after work drinks. The beer garden is extremely Popular on weekends with live music, and the water fountain!
During the week, there is a University night which is usually filled with young students dressed to impress their friends from all countries engaging in lively chit-chat.
Classy pub with good selection of meals and wine.

Highly recommend! We recently hosted a special event at Customs house in the Harbour view lounge - and it was incredible! Not only was the communication seamless and so helpful in the lead up (special thank you to Hannah), the team was brilliant on the night! It was a flawless event and everyone had the best time. I have been in for lunch a few times now and I can’t fault anything. The only disappointment I got was when I was too full to finish my food, because it was absolutely delicious.
The verandah is a stunning spot to bask in the sun, watch the ships roll in and have a cocktail. The beer garden is great for a chill hangout with a group and inside is great for a large sit down gathering. This place has it all.
The staff have been so friendly and helpful on every occasion. Nothing is a bother and they always have a solution. They have made sure that I have easy access for a pram, they always come and take orders in a timely fashion and they seem to always be handy, without hovering.

One of the most beautiful pubs in Newcastle. The staff and service are top notch and the views are unmatched. Perfect spot for an afternoon beer. Massive beer garden out front is perfect for large groups and dog friendly. Great pub.
