We recently stayed here for two nights. The service from the reception staff was great, and the views from our room were excellent. The beds were decently comfortable and the sheets were quite clean. The rooms were quiet and well sound proofed. Unfortunately these were the only positives.

The room itself was extremely neglected, dirty and in desperate need of renovation. As you can see from the photos, not only is there a lot of damage to the room itself aesthetically, but it’s clearly been many years since it’s had a thorough clean (thick accumulation of dust on blinds, above door hinges, in wardrobes, etc). As well as this, the lounges and furniture are dated and have stains on them. Much of the cutlery was dirty/had food on it, and cooking utensils were very limited.

The air conditioning in the bedrooms was very poor as well, making for two very warm nights of trying to sleep.

Upon departure we told reception that the rooms needed improvement, and we got the impression that the reception staff have received this feedback many times before. I’m not sure why the owners are reluctant to spend money to improve the condition and cleanliness of their property; oftentimes you have to spend money to make money.

If the rooms were renovated and properly cleaned, this would make for a very decent stay. Unfortunately, I am hard pressed giving this resort 3 stars; given how dirty our room was, it’s closer to a 2. It’s definitely not 4 stars as Google suggests. I hope the owners will decide to put some love into improving the quality and condition of the rooms.

Great Stay at Cullen bay resorts,
Apartment well equipped and clean, great view over Marina.
Furniture in living area of apartment could do with an upgrade, bed was comfortable.
Pool area could do with upgrade, although was fine for a swim.
Top location easy walk to Cullen bay Marina and we did walk into city also

Stayed here 16/11 - 19/11.|A relatively cheap hotel a bit outside the city centre. The hotel is a little worn but has its charm after all. Stayed in a standard room with two beds high up. It was nice to be able to buy some snacks, drinks and small dishes in the lobby. Also had a nice gent called Allan who worked in the evenings.||Prons:|Relatively cheap.|Pool (cold perfect in my opinion)|Nice view of the harbor (standard double room)|Refrigerator.|Electric kettle.|Large balcony.|No air conditioning (outdoor unit) on the balcony.|Roof fan.|Silent air-conditioning in the room.||Cons:|2 km from the center.|A little worn in general.|Hard pillows.|Narrow beds.|The pool toilets are not acceptable, one step down full of cobwebs.

We have stayed on a couple of occasions previously and enjoyed it. This occasion disappointing. No cold water in room ,fridge not turned on. Even on request weren't able to get a jug. Water barely hot and low pressure in showers. Still has good views and is in good position.

We were greeted with very warm and friendly staff, great way to start our stay. We stayed on the 6th floor with good marina/ocean views. Lots of room in the unit, balcony nice size and lounge kitchen area very roomy. The pillows are very comfortable, aircon working very well and great shower pressure.

We always stay at the Cullen Bay Resort when we are in Darwin. This time was about the 10th. We were given the top floor ( 8th ) overlooking the marina. It is so relaxing, everything provided, quiet. No issues at all. Thank you. Will be back again next time.

Perfectly located quiet area. Accessible for everything. Great parking. Wonderful water views. Staff were helpful +++. Everything clean, modern and worked! Air-conditioning & fans made hot humid days easy to deal with. Would definitely stay again.

I have been staying at the Cullen Bay Resorts on my many trips to Darwin since 2015. There is nowhere else I'd rather stay, and the reasons are: |Location - a close and safe walk to the bars, restaurants, amazing sunset with fish and chips on the lawn at Cullen Bay. Morning walk along Mindil Beach and back for coffee at Boatshed. Another easy walk to Mindil Beach for the markets. |Central to all the Darwin attractions - The wonderful Museum, ski, trailer boat, sailing, and bowls clubs for outdoor meals (and did I mention the sunset), the Waterfront, Fannie Bay and Parap market and shops (best clothes, best coffee, best massage, best galleries) and the CBD. |Often traveling on my own I feel safe at Cullen Bay Resort with off-street secure parking, helpful reception staff and it has a good saltwater pool that is the perfect temperature and not in shadow all day from surrounding buildings. And while it might be older than other resorts, I felt safe in the solid old girl during a cyclone.|The marina views are spectacular - I never tire of opening the curtains in the early morning to that view.
