The hotel is in a great location, and the rooms were very clean. Service was excellent, with friendly and attentive staff.

However, two major letdowns impacted my stay. First, I was surprised that a five-star hotel requires a $50 deposit per night. For a hotel of this calibre, such a high deposit seems excessive.

Secondly, the buffet breakfast was disappointing. At nearly $40 per person, the quality was underwhelming, and the food wasn’t fresh. Even arriving early at 6:30am, the pancakes were often stale, and the bacon was poorly cooked. There was also little variety - breakfast was identical to the day before, with leftover food seemingly being reused. No hash browns either. For a five-star hotel, I expected much better.

If you avoid the buffet breakfast (trust me, you can get MUCH better breakfast nearby for much less than $40 per person) and you don’t mind the hefty deposit required, this hotel is a very nice place to stay.

I would always always go back and stay at the Crystalbrook Flynn when I’m in Cairns! It’s a perfect location for all food and shops in cairns. Also the lagoon and the marina are super close, everything is walking distance. There is plenty of public parking space on the Abbott street and they have an own garage as well ($15 per night is very reasonable). They have 3 restaurants and 2 pools, everything is very modern and fancy. We loved the looks and atmosphere.
It has two towers, we stayed at the Esplanade tower. Our room was very clean and spacious with harbour and sea view which was great, we could watch the sunrise from the bed and also catch a great view of the flying foxes at dusk from our balcony. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. My biggest plus: it is directly next to the famous cairns night markets. I haven’t seen a comparable hotel anywhere on the esplanade! Absolutely recommend to stay!

Friendly, accommodating front desk staff. Comfortable room, except for varying water temp in the shower. Nice, large spaces. Better than average breakfast buffet. All staff encountered were very friendly and helpful. Location great for swimming, tours and dining options plus nearby art galleries and aquarium.

Really nice hotel and an excellent location. You can go to the first (second for Americans) floor and exit out the back into the esplanade area. Our room had everything you need, tea and coffee are complimentary. Each room gets an IPad that lets you call room service, put up Do Not Disturb, has a directory, etc. The gym was sufficient for my needs.

Good/bad: Lovely hotel. Really enjoyed it. But did actually find a lot of staff to be quite rude. Not very welcoming on arrival, actually less than helpful in a lot of ways. At breakfast we were accused of giving a fake room number! 😂 we did give the correct room number but told the hotel didn’t have that room number in quite a confrontational manner. So actually left without breakfast and ate at a nice venue called Chambers where the staff are so lovely. Later that day at 6pm trying to order a glass of wine took 20 mins after lots of failed attempts and being ignored.
The actual hotel is so incredible but my god the staff let it down a lot.

I don’t usually leave negative reviews but this hotel was pretty disappointing.

The major issue: There was a very strong mouldy/mildew smell in our room.

Some minor issues: There were a few issues with cleaning/maintenance. The towels didn’t seem to be cleaned properly. The light switch panel over one bedside table had fallen off and was on the bedside table when we first went into the room. I’d also expect a 5-star hotel room to come with a clothes iron.

When I checked out, I mentioned to the person at the front desk that the room smelt mouldy, and he just said “Ok.”

I didn’t ask for or expect a refund. I was just trying to give a heads up so the room could be sorted out for future guests, but a “Sorry” would have been nice at least.

Hotel is in a very central location- night market is a few shops down. Hotel was extremely new when we visited- bed was comfy with good amenities. Breakfast was decent but slow at times. Managed to find free parking on the street.

Amazing location.
Views and rooms are lovely.
The hotel makes a conscious effort towards sustainability with water taps available in various places.
Decent vegetarian options available.
However, wouldn’t mind some extra vegan options.
Overall, pretty good and will stay here again next time in Cairns!
